SysEx wrong checksum !!!

Hey Hey Hey

Hi There!!!

My little little problem is:

Everytime I try to load soundbanks from Sounddiver to my Virus Indigo2, It displays :" SysEx wrong checksum!!" ...
....and the result is that the soundbanks are loaded in bank "A" with no name .....just A0 - A1 -A2 etc etc....

Please help me!!!

Sorry, I don't use Sounddiver.

I do all my patch editing on the control surface of my VC, and patch tranfering/OS updates from Cubase.

Can someone help this guy out?

......I have written to access assistance

they told me to adjust a valour in the sounddiver but it won't work....

I try to load the midi file from cubase and I have no results (probably I need to modify some options into cubase)

by the way, i have uploaded the new operative system (6.5) using the midi file into cubase and it has been successful.

the trouble keep going on....

p.s.thanks for your reply Hollowcell

If you have managed to update the OS from cubase, then you should have no problem with installing a soundbank.

It may be a setting with the Virus. When I get home I'll look in the manual to tell you which page to have a look at.

Good luck!

You'll find everything you need to know about this stuff from page 118 of the manual.

Remember though if you choose "Force to bank A" for example, it will completely over write the bank with the new sound bank.

You can load in patches one by one from a sound bank too. If you set the Virus to "Forces to edit buffer" then play your sequencer at about 4bpm, then you can pause between patches as they pop up on the Virus screen. From here you can save the patch to a patch slot on the Virus or over-write the patch in the edit buffer by pressing play on the sequencer again.

Make sure you have sending sys-ex on in your sequencer and clock send off. I think your setting would already be like this as you have already updated the OS.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

First of all, thanks for your interesting hollow!!

I am going mad about this trouble...

Here's my settings:

Midi Dump TX -> SingleBankA

Midi Dump RX -> ForceToBankA

Midi -> GlobalChan 1

Midi -> Panel Int+Midi

Midi -> ClockRx Disable

Midi -> DeviceId 1

Midi Control -> LoPage SysEx

Midi Control -> HiPage SysEx

------------------------------------

Under Cubase Sx: set the tempo track to 4 bpm, midi IN and OUT to my midi interface, Channel 1.

RESULT: press play, the sequencer starts and I can see a little "C" between "1" and "A0" (where A0 is the first of bank A),the little "C" keep flashing on even if i stop the sequencer....nothing happens....bank A ramains the same.

p.s. the error "sysex wrong checksum" does not display....

Under SoundDiver: have raised timeout setting to 800 ms, send pause to 350 ms, play delay to 200. If I load the midi file or the sounddiver file is the same: "sysex with wrong checksum" ...a little "SE" appears between "1" and "A0"....i notice that the sounds are changed but they are not labelled,for istance I can see the names of every sound into sounddiver but everytime i try to transmit dispays the usual fuckin' error!!!

I start thinking about my midi interface....broken???....

obviously I connect midi IN of the midi interface to midi OUT of the Virus
and midi OUT of the midi interface to midi IN of the Virus.....i suppose this is correct....

I have also tried several changes to my settings doing a lot of combinations...nada de nada!!

waiting for an angel.....

bye byez

For a start, if you want to install a whole new sound bank, then you don't need to have the sequencer so slow. I usually set the sequencer at about 60bpm for installing a new OS or whole sound bank. If I want to install a few sounds out of 1 sound bank then I set the sequencer slow and force to edit buffer.

No need to disable the midi clock in the Virus itself either.

I can't help with sounddiver as I don't use it, but what about your Cubase settings?

Midi clock disabled in cubase? Sending of sysex enabled?

Honestly it is so difficult trying to guess from this side of the web.

Anyone else have any ideas?

"Midi Dump RX -> ForceToBankA"
RX = Recieve

Select "Enable"
and not Force to Bank A !

and tMidi Dump TX -> SingleBankA (TX = transmit)
and is only needed when you make a transmit from the ACcess Virus it self.

17 years after: I hope you solved the issue, or are you stil waiting ? :)
