TI review @ future music

Has anybody read the TI review in latest Future music? It describes it as "the most desirable piece of technology I've come across for some time", but it doesn't mention a thing about the stability issues. It's like a commercial for access, but now I've understanded clearly whats going between companies and FM. Although I love my TI, I begin to hate future music. Sound on Sound is far more accurate and detached.

Oh I don't know, the Sound On Sound review of the TI was pretty much the same, and that was with reviewing an early OS (v1.03, i think?). Absolutely nowhere near their usual standards and thoroughness. Dropped the ball on that one.

But they did mentioned the bugs, and that remote mode isn't available yet.
As a conclusion, never trust a magazine for your investments...

The problem is, if you dont write a glowing review of a manufacturers piece of kit, then the manufacturer pulls out their advertising, which hurts the mag.

When some manufacturers realise they can bully the magazines with threats, then the magazines get down on their knees and start sucking.

I guess maybe not so relative to a smaller company like Access, but for a manufacturer like Yamaha or Roland, well, they just walk around with their pants off all the time.

I think it's greatly true that the opinions these mags give is biased towards it's advertisers, those "best of the year" awards are always funny to me... i think sound on sound is the closest to the truth, i think the reason they didn't mention the instability as much because they deal with a lot of gear RIGHT when it comes out, so they deal with a lot of instability and understand that stuff wont' work right initially (i personally HATE this and think stuff should work properly BEFORE it comes out, why punish the early users??) and considering how many updates access has released so far, I think they've done a good job so far and hopefully continue at this pace.....

Eventually it will hurt the Mag if they don't speak truth when talking about gear. SOS has done some of the most harsh reviews I've read (Hartmann Neuron was one that springs to mind), and they don't seem to be biased to a huge degree. Future music on the other hand....

All up though, you can't rely on reviews 100%. Even user reviews often follow trends. Fickle bunch of fuckers we humans are.

Sound on Sound are like the broadsheets whereas Future Music are like News of the World and other tabloids!

Who needs mags when there's forums like these?

thanks for the heads up Guzzy. Good article, seems like a pretty fair review - both positive and not so positive.
