Waiting, waiting, waiting...

I hate waiting!

I've just ordered a load of new parts for a new PC.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 (dual 2.67GHz 64bit processor)
ASUS mobo
2 Gig Corsair C4 memory
blah, blah, blah

Should be able to gently overclock it up to about 3.5GHz per core (some have OC'ed to over 4.5GHz) --> should enable me to be much more productive rather than having to stop the creative juices everytime I alter the soundcard latency!

All this plus videocard, Raptor HD, Antec P180 case, True power PSU for just over ?700!

Gonna hook up my current PC via Gbit LAN and use FX Teleport to run the UAD-1s, the Powercores and a whole host of other VSTs. Should leave the new beast available for Audio Input & Output, FXing, mixing and running the TI!

Just got to wait for the damn processor to become available in the shops!

Drammy, this is almost exactly what I am going to be doing in the next couple of weeks. I was thinking of going with the E6800 because I wanted to oc it to 4ghz while still using air cooling. Which asus mobo did you go with? The funny thing is, I was planning on selling my uads because I didn't think I was going to be able to use them with the new machine (it only has pci-e slots). I didn't even think about fx teleport. How is the latency using teleport?

The mobo is an Asus P5B deluxe - I researched it all day yesterday and if OC'ing I feel this is the best board to go for - plus you get 3 PCI slots on this board as well as 3 PCI-e...

I haven't used FX Teleport for a few years now. I bought it about 4 years ago and it didn't work terribly well for me on v. old PCs. Its been revsed a few times since though.

I believe it has been improved and when under the Gbit LAN it should work well - I use Cubase SX3 which has Latency compensation so I don't see latency being such a problem (unless playing a synth on the server) - you can always play stuff in on the host and then when finished pass it over to the FXT server and move on.

I looked at the E6800 but just thought ?800 (price here in the UK) is just too steep when the E6700 is only ?400 - I won't miss the 266 MHz - especially if using FXTeleport.

I will keep you posted - when I get the damn thing! I'm so impatient!

probably next week I will place the order. This week was furniture for my apartment (I'm tired of sleeping on a blow up mattress ;) Still have to look into FX Teleport.

I was contemplating it - but for half the price I can build a wonderfully powerful PC...
