Openlabs Miko

I recently ordered the Openlabs Miko. www.openlabs.com
This piece of gear is the next level. It successfully intergrates music with computer. I'm tired of having to try and figure out how to make digital music without being a computer tech. I will still have my hands on and irreplaceable analog synths (Andromeda,PEK,Obxa,Juno60) and V-synth,
but it will be cool to blend the analog and digital this way. One great feature is the cloning software. It allows you to clone sounds from other boards. If I want the sounds from a Virus Ti, I can rent one and copy the patches I like. There's no other machine like it, well except for the Neko64, its big brother! I can't wait until mine arrives.

You gotta love these 'open' types - allways up for a good ripping off so long as it aint them that gets ripped off...

That feature has not been released yet, so what this "open type" really is about is "Total Intergration". Sorry I couldn't resist!

Just out of interest, how does it do that?

Any links or anything?

It samples it automaticly, triggering the device via midi.

Seems pretty cool.

You'll have to let us know how it goes Papa.

HC,
Hanami is just around the corner in Japan. A few years ago When I was visiting a friend during this season, I had the greatest time in Yokohama. They know how to party in Japan!
When I get my hands on the Miko I'll mos def post my explorations with it.

Yeah, good ol Hanami! I'm really looking forward to it this year. Relaxing get togethers during the day, and craziness during the night. :D

Well I've had my Miko for a few days and it's definitely the best production workstation/computer I've used in my studio. It comes with Cubase Le installed and a bunch of awesome sounding and very tweakable softsynths. I've got Cubase sx3 on the way. With sx I'll be able to use my Motif , Andromeda and Poly Evolver Keyboard as vsti. The coolest thing about Miko is the touchscreen. It's so nice to not use a mouse. I use my finger and a Nintendo stylus. I recommend this to everyone looking to get a totally "integrated" machine. It runs on Windows XP so you can use whatever software you want on it.
