Run and Hide - first song using Virus

Hi all,

I recently bought a second hand Virus Rack, and this is the first song I have done with it in my home "studio".

Everything was played on the Virus, except the two bass lines, which are Sylenth1, and the drums, which are Jamstix. I designed all the sounds myself. It was recorded in Reaper.

I'm just an amateur that enjoys tinkering with synths, but I'd be very interested to hear what you think of it.

hey Daniel, not bad at all. Did you do the vocals as well?

Thanks,

Yes, I was song writer, lyrics writer, sound designer, keyboardist, singer, and recording engineer. That's what you get for being an amateur working at home ;)

Daniel,
I actually thought you had remixed a depeche mode song. Your voice sounds just like the lead singers! Your music definitely shows promise.

Hi all,

This is the latest and possibly final version of the song. The differences are not dramatic, and are mainly the result of me buying new monitors, so I can finally hear what's going on in my song . . .

Hope you enjoy it:

Hi all,

This is the latest and greatest version of this song. I am extremely pleased with it. It's finally sounding like I think it should.

I'd be interested to hear what you think of it.

Does the drums loop etc. also comes from the virus?
Asking because I thought it would be very circuitous to do, because you will need a separate track for each things like the kick, clap, hihat, ...

I am using a software drum kit because if think the virus is not really usable or comfortable for that. Or do I missing something (getting something wrong)?

No, the drums are Jamstix.

The synth sounds are all Virus except the pad (for want of a better term) and the bass, which are Sylenth1.

Very interesting post goth synth pop, catchy and with just enough of a nod to Joy Division and the like to not sound contrived. Cheers and Holla
