RIP Michael Jackson
|
RIP. Bad was the very first album I ever bought - it was on cassette tape. Whether you like his music or not, his impact on the music industry has been so wide and deep that his influence on the music we listen to and write today is inescapable.

Off the wall->Thriller->Bad-> invented pop music.
|
Agreed, Off the wall in particular.
Off the wall was co-written and Produced by Jackson with Quincy Jones, Paul Mcartney and Stevie Wonder amongst others. What a lineup, with people like George Duke and wah wah Watson, just proves how talented he was at that time. RIP Michael Jackson you sweet, strange, misunderstood and very talented man. |

![]() No misunderstanding there; he was a fucking moron! |

Why are you in a thread titled "Rest in peace Michael Jackson when you clearly hate the man? Why are you trolling a dead man, in a thread intended to honour him? You are as bad if not worse than the paparazzi who hounded him. At least they lay off when he's dead. If you believe what you read in the tabloids about him you're an idiot. It's well known when he "showed his new baby to the world" he was in the middle of an extreme crisis likes of which you will never know. I'm not defending MJ, he did silly things like any human. No need to reply or quote me again, I know where the Daily Mail is if I need it thanks. RIP Michael. |

I don't give a fuck what he went through, as all of us have seen bad times and I could bet some of the things I have seen would equal or surpass his "extreme crisis". Nothing justifies a person risking the life of a child - although you seem to think the opposite. Quote:

HC on form in this thread.
Jacko certainly did not invent pop music ffs and this oupouring of grief for a bloke who loved children a bit too much is bizarre. And as morbidly fascinating as his life was, let's watch as his relatives all get litigious. But.. I can remember him when he was 13. What a voice. Thriller was a fucking awesome record. Man. I met my first wife on a dancefloor with that on. With all the world at his command he then disappeared up his own arsehole. Happened to my favourite Motowner Marvin too. RIP Michael. I'll remember you for the great things. |
My feeling is that he was a supremely talented lunatic. Do I lament at his passing? Not for a second. I see a photo of demented, white African-American, holding a white baby from a hotel window (Point = Baby, his or not?) that remained in his care after the event!! Too much benefit of the doubt, for my liking! (>_<)
His music is classic, and yet when I hear it, I do not consider the man who sang the songs, as they have transcended him. Should I be hearing those songs more often now that he is dead? Nope. Should we honour his influence on the music industry? We already had, years ago, with the purchase of LP after LP when we found his material worthy. The news: Please, replace the Wacko Jacko focus with some study on the demographics of western troops serving in foreign wars zones, I would be interested in that. Perhaps a report describing the differences between the mentality of cultures of those that follow monotheistic religious doctrine and those that follow polytheistic religious doctrine, and the affect on solidarity? LOLZ! (^_^) |

Anyone that can spell polytheistic deserves a gold fucking sticky as far as I'm concerned. |
I am fucking moved by that above.
MJ was merely a tryst between himself and himself. A dichotomy of self and perceived self. |

I only judge him as an artist, that's what he was to us.
Anything else is hearsay, and nothing to do with me. |
Dame nice post Celestry!

This is what started the current analysis, and while you're clearly entitled to your genuine feelings, so too, are we. While hearsay is not something you can trust (hence your heart felt mourning will consist of mostly what you want to believe), photographic proof of insanity is. :( Quote:
Cheers, Hollowcell. There is much confusion for some people in a situation such as this, as much of what they think is projected from their subconscious (and very natural) human drives. Unfortunately, while this chap's music was special, he was no human deity, and should be thought of no longer. Those that mourn his loss are projecting a mild requirement for something beyond themselves, in a metaphysical sense. Music is important to the human mind, so a fellow like MJ is a prime target upon whom to project a request for 'guidance'. Much like Dirty Diana, when she died in Paris, our last, best hope for innocence died with her... at least, for a couple of months.... lolz (^_^) |
This projection of perceived personal involvement in Jackson's life and, ultimately his, death by so many self-proclaimed minions fills me with a desire to laugh.
Still. The bald, child molesting tosspot could dance. Carnt argue with that. |
Motown gave Michael pills when he was youger to prevent his voice from deepening, I assume they where hormonal pills to prevent puberty and he then never got a chance to grow into an adult. Everyone that has met him has said he was very childlike. Not defending any actions but he prefered kids because they were the most like him and he was a little off but we dont know the extent of his actions, they may have been wierd to us but innocent to him. It would be very tempting to sue a wealthy man like MJ and the whole thing could have been made up, it could have been real, but you or I will never know the truth. His music will stand the test of time and he will be remembered long after we are forgotten.

EDIT: And on that topic, it seems that all groups that are into children are mourning in their special ways..... A must watch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beaj4...axa_popt00us01 |
Here's a picture of Helsinki.

Fucking snowing as of yesterday though..
|
Snow is so beautiful, but such a pain in the arse! We've not had much here in the North West of UK for some time.
|
It's turned to ice now.
North West of England you say.. I'm from Heaton Mersey originally. Used to ride my bike down the back of St John's. Near Cranford driving range. Mid 70's. |
Ice is bad; slippy slidey of the dangerous variety!
So, how long have you been in Helsinki? I've always had the feeling I'd live abroad one day! Was likely to be Spain, as my ex was Spanish, now, however, I feel drawn to Japan, where my best mate lives. lol, he lives in a place called Toyama, which I like to remind him is the equivalent to our home town here in the UK, Runcorn! |
Japan is a country I will visit one day - very expensive have a friend who lived/worked there for several years. Amazing country of culture and facade, it facinates me.
The interesting thing is with Japan tends to trend similar to Japans economy and lifestyles, although it is not a widely acknowledged fact. Especially in terms of governmental health services and costs...a useless bit of info really. Now where is that Koto preset on the Virus ;~) |
Ah, you shouldn't put off visiting Japan, Hobbo! You'll find yourself astonishingly enriched for the journey. I went there, solo, in December 2007, and i didn't want to come back. Spent the first 4 days in Tokyo with my mate, checking out Disneyland Sea (lol), Odaiba, Shinjuku (whoa, what a crazy place!), Shibuya, Taito (where i was staying!), then he had to go ear money so i buggered off on my bill! I went to Osaka first, then Hiroshima, then to Kyoto before heading off to my mate's home town of Toyama!
What memories! (^_^) Do yourself a favour, make it a priority. |
Also you forgot to mention - Osaka okonomiyaki is quite possibly one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten.
|
DAMN YOU!!!! You are not to mention that again! Grrrr (>_<) You're correct of course, this is one of the most delicious things i have eaten, also! (Which is why i flipped out! lol) In fact, my friend delights in sending me pics of his Okonomiyaki when he goes to eat at RuRu's in Takaoka, which is in fact just like my home town of Runcorn, with Toyama being like Liverpool!
|
I had job lined up with NOVA roughly two years ago just before everything hit the fan for them - my sister and her bf had worked for them on and off for years, but obviously once they stopped paying employees etc I turned it down.
Kind of threw a spanner in the works for me life wise but these things happen - still want to go live there for a year or so (in Osaka or close by), and give time to immerse myself in the culture (and the delicious okonomiyaki), perhaps when I finish my bachelor and can get in there a bit easier. |
