Seems quite stable on the Snow. 30mins of use, no glitches, no crashes.

But, Character doesn't allow me to select Vintage 1,2,3 or Lead Enhancers etc. It's greyed out.

Other than that, tested it on Ableton 8, works well.

Good thing about living in Germany, seeing these updates first! BUT! I dont see a Mac version up yet... Very odd. I guess Ill be using my bootcamp install of Windows in the meantime to install it and check it out.

Never mind, its up now! :D

Celestry 27.02.2009 03:32 PM

The TI2 Polar being shipped with OS 2.7.6, i'm not sure whether or not i'm ready to try the OS3.x update.... Especially as the 2.7.6 isn't available to download, should i wish to revert!

(?_?)

'What button does what?'

Dunkler Engel 27.02.2009 03:52 PM

Yay!!!! Mac version is up now! Downloading...

all fine here. are you talking about Intensity and tune? because the algorithms mentioned above simply don't have those parameters ...

This is reflected in HI now...

I really didn't wanna post, but what does that mean?

And is that the way it WAS or... now it's like that?

haha - guess i should have edited this sentence, real germanenglish brought to you directly by one of our developers. i guess what he means is that now those parameters cannot be accessed anymore when using those particular algorithms. before you were able to change them but they didn't do anything.

HI means Hardware Interface btw.

YES!

DeFex 27.02.2009 04:39 PM

Cant get to this till tomorrow, did they fix where you cant modulate any of the new types of delay on effects page?

Pighood 27.02.2009 07:46 PM

Here we go again...doesn't work on my Mac. Software updated OK, but the installed thought there was no Virus attached to the Mac. When trying to launch VIrus control, I got the "hardware/software mismatch" message. :(

cl516 27.02.2009 08:10 PM

mine works as a standalone unit.

mac installer worked. recognized my TI (1) desktop.

and yes, now next to Vintage 1, 2, 3, there are no parameters.

same problem here :(

but finally after 15 times "reinstall drivers" it worked on my windows vista system. it's the same problem with the first public beta. with all previous 2.x releases it never happened.

Totty 27.02.2009 08:37 PM

Installed fine, have to wait to tomorrow to let rip:D

civan 27.02.2009 08:42 PM

Auto Update?

So do we need to download and install the latest software from the website in order to update to OS 3.0.1? I thought the update software on the Mac/PC would update the OS automatically when it detects the Virus TI... could someone please clarify.

Pighood 27.02.2009 08:49 PM

I emailed Matt Skaggs...no answer yet.

Works swimmingly here. Updated first go without issue.

Same problem here. It does not recognize my macbook pro G4 either. Try the 'All cables off and return with the 'Exit' hold button . Did not work. Any solutions?:?

this OS 3 is a complete f uck up

i wasted a whole day to try and get it back to OS 2

cYrus 28.02.2009 05:18 PM

just went back to 2.7.5.

3.X is very unrealiable here. i get a lot of time the "not connected" or the "audio driver failed to start" messages. 2.7.5 is rock solid here.

Splat! 28.02.2009 05:38 PM

It's still a Public Beta, so be patient!

Maybe you could expand on your statement, then people might be able to help you.

Just a thought.

IamEvil 28.02.2009 06:07 PM

OS 3 was a pain in the arse on mine too.

I swapped the USB cable with one from my midex 8 and it has worked great... worth a shot on a different usb cable

Pighood 28.02.2009 06:13 PM

I tried that....no go.

Totty 28.02.2009 06:21 PM

Just noticed that in Logic 8 on Mac Pro 8 Core, Logic is reporting 100% cpu on one core. I noticed that when I switched core audio driver to MOTU 828MK2 or internal audio, cpu usage dropped. I don't know if this something Virus related.

glenn303 28.02.2009 11:38 PM

Ive been running 3.0.1 for about an hour on my Snow in Live 8b.14 and its been smooth, no problems yet.

zeno 01.03.2009 02:23 AM

Everything is a go here. Not sure if it's me, or something else, but some of my sounds made in 2.x sound a little different in 3.0.

Not a big deal though. The features in 3.x are super. Now if we could just tie LFO rate to the mod-wheel while in clock mode.

Raphie 01.03.2009 07:16 AM

Super stable here... best release yet!

Mate. Call me crazy, but is that guy in your Avatar the same dude from the Sham Wow commercials?!:p

I installed this tonight, and it looks and sounds amazing. Only 1 main bug / problem that I've noticed on PC Cubase 4.52 (and a fellow producer I know on Mac / Logic 8 says he's seen it too)

Problem:

After some time of using VC, and performing certain actions (I can't determine exactly what yet), moving many knobs on VC with the mouse does NOT affect the sound (e.g. Punch Intensity, Dry/Wet of Phaser, Distortion type). On the other hand, moving the knob on the hardware, does affect the sound. Has anyone else seen this?

Solution:

Restart VC

Also I posted a question in another topic but I may as well ask here, how exactly can one switch the patch volume to be pre-effects like in v2? If this has been set to post-effects with no options, doesn't this mean that any patches involving patch volume modulation from v2 will sound different in v3? I certainly used to do patch volume modulation in v2 and am worried those sounds will sound different now.

Finally, I have some feedback regarding the interface of VC in v3:
- I really dislike the gradients on the envelopes, it looks completely out of place. A very soft gradient or even solid colour would look much better to be honest.
- (Also in v2), I notice that when you are in Wavetable mode for an oscillator, there's no easy way to browse through the wavetables without getting a popup list which you have to choose from, there is no way to just go to the previous and next wavetable. Any plans to make this easier to do with the mouse?
- I think the patch selection page would look a lot better with darker background and bright text, it looks messy / too hard on the eyes with a white background. This will also be a nice contrast to the generally bright look of the entire plugin.

Thanks!

v3.0 installed ok for me but v3.0.1 stalls about two thirds of the way through...unless its supposed to take 30minutes+ without the status bar moving

update:- it seems to be ok after the installer is extracted to the hard disk, looks like it cant progress to the firmware update if its being run from winrar or winzip

running things directly from a zip is file is never a good idea, I think even Windows says not to do so....

i got to say this seems like a step backward to me (v3.0.109), three crashes in two days since the new install resulting in no sound at all from the ti in ableton and the virus has to be rebooted to communicate with ableton again. i might go back to v3.0

00264167 07.04.2009 11:57 PM

balls...theyve taken all the older os3 versions off the access download page and ive deleted v3.0 a few weeks ago. i dont want to be having to use this buggy p.o.s (v3.0.109) that crashes ever hour.

anyone got the installer for v 3.0?
