I got into graduate school! (I'M BAAAACK)

Hey there all,

I took the GRE (Graduate Records Exam) a few weeks ago.
I needed 1,000 or better, I got 1,110.
Hence I got accepted to graduate school.

This is a large relief to me as I need to get this out of the way.
I haven't touched my Virus KC for 6 months and am ready to go nuts at this point.

I FDISKed my DAW, reloaded it from the ground up, and bought a Dell 22" wide panel monitor.

I'm looking into using either the Rekon VST editor or another product as a new means to play with my beloved KC.

I am keeping it simple this time round. I am only loading a few key VSTis and VST FX, no more polyglot. I want to get the most out of a good few and getting less distracted by others is a good way to do that. Also, I am going to play more of my acoustic instruments, electric guitars, etc. as I have been a synth junkie for a few years and need to not neglect my first batch of gear.

DJing has been low key. I almost bought a Vestax DJ MIDI controller but then became aware of the jog wheel acceleration issue it has and decided to wait. I might get a Numark Total Control as it is alot cheaper but it doesn't have touch sensitive jog wheels. The M-Audio Xponent does but it costs the same as the Vestax and is freaking ugly.

Anyhow, that's my status in a nutshell. I have 6 weeks before school starts so I'll be drinking and posting again and hope to catch up with you all soon.

Cheers!

I'm looking forward to jamming out again after such a long hiatus.

Doc, are you still in Austin?

P.S. Been downloading (paid, not P2P) alot of kick ass tracks from www.junodownload.com and www.beatport.com. Give'em a whirl if you're up for new tunes.

Good for you, Lorenzo; that's what I would have done too. No body, no crime! ;)

Hey Tomer! Yes, graduate school = university. I will be going part time (2 classes per semester) and continue working as I must support the wife and kids. Only 15.5 years to go until both are 18...

Doc Jones 14.07.2007 07:41 PM

yup, still in Austin. We're having some weird ass weather here - last two months was basically all rain. Worst flooding here in a long, long time. Upshot to all this rain is that it has kept the temps in the 80s (where it really should be hitting the 100s by now)

ACL is up next !! - http://www.aclfest.com/default.aspx

Hows the weather in your neck of the woods?

Jase! I'll be pursuing a Master's in Public Administration, which is essentially 50% public policy and 50% finance & accounting. Why? It's a good, general degree for a career civil servant like me and my job pays for it. How have you been, Jase?

Sounds good Alex...

I've been really great, my brothers and sister have been in town recently for a big old family reunion, got to see all my nieces and nephews. Most of them live overseas so it was good to see them all.

Work is great, been hanging out with A-List hollywood stars, and will be back in San Francisco from August 4th until Xmas, then 2 weeks holidays, and probably back in SF until March.

Doc Jones 15.07.2007 05:28 PM

hey jase,

just curious, how are you liking San Fran?

It's a pretty cool place, the nightlife is great, and the location we are using for shooting is really beautiful, located on the bay looking across at the city. It's called Treasure Island, and was built for the worlds fair or something.

We are staying in an area called Marina, which is really nice, but there does seem to be a lot of poverty in SF, which can get depressing sometimes.

If I were to move to The US, it would be to CA, maybe SF, or NYC I reckon. Seems to be where most of the work is...

Congrats Alex, I know how much of a relief it is to pass exams, it's even better when you've finished, Good luck

And now all high and mighty with your book learning nonsense. You've changed man. I can't believe you've done this to us.

Hollowcell 20.07.2007 02:27 PM

Hurry up and get a straw so you can slurp my baby-gravy out of his arse, OK?

I might be going back to school, but I'm still the same sick fucker I've always been...believe it!

So sorry for the absence, I'll write you a formal apology, good to hear from you Bro!

ledge 12.08.2007 11:39 PM

Man, now I've got a massive stork on at work and if I get my wang out to relieve myself I'll probably get fired.

You are an evil bastard.

AlexHall74 14.08.2007 10:01 PM

HAH! You are one sick bastard yourself, it's always a pleasure trading insults with you. It's only a job, go ahead and relieve yourself.

;)

Cheers, you freak!
