Ben Crosland ?
 

just curious if any one has spoken with Ben lately?
(I know he hasn't been on the forum since it went down earlier this year).

It was definitely good having him on here - he helped me out quite a bit (especially in the TI 1.02 - 1.09 days)

I'm pretty sure him and the other Access boys stay only on the other forum, as many members vented their anger about the faulty TIs. Not good for a company to acknowedge a site when there's so much bad press on it.

It was the bad language and insults that did it !! FACT

It's a great shame. It was a dark era. =/

True, but they were just venting their frustration. It's just sad they decided to vent it towards the wrong guy alot of the time.

Nothing we can do about that now.....

In addition to that, this forum wasnt being moderated properly at that time and alot of the shit that was being thrown...STUCK. I dont blame Ben or Mark cutting their ties here...

I'd like to think that Ben and Mark could be inticed to come back here....but once burned.....

I emailed Mark a while ago about this very topic. I got a good reply explaining their reasons (as described above) and saying that there was no hard feelings. They will continue to post to the AMPFEA mailing list and the other forum as they don't want to keep moving around.

They also did it in their spare time and any post weren't necessarily made as Access employees but more out of a personal interest... It was a sad day when we lost their support but I doubt they will be back.

Like I said the email was good and we were wished luck but as DS says, "once burned".

Venting of frustrations by users wasnt *the* thing that drove them away - of course it was hugely contributary but it happened everywhere - it was no different on the puny forum. The real problem was how it was/wasnt dealt with here at the time - I think 3o3 wasnt around much, blay was away, Juho had been away somewhere for ages and Sunesha hadnt been seen or heard from in nearly a year.

The users here who actually wanted to keep a lid on things couldnt - we werent mods - even one of them gave up and has hardly been here since.

Then throw into the mix that around that time, thing wre starting to go wrong with the board wit no way to fix them without sunesha or Juho, then finally we lost DNS on the old server - and people here were quite rightfully more worried about just rescuing the database and keeping the forum alive in any shape or form - hence why the 3rd virus forum got created.

I'd say given all the things that happened - were damn lucky to still have a forum at all - even if now it is mostly the old core community and not that many others - in some ways - that aint so bad - this forum is at least still mostly a bunch of mates rather than a souless tech support group that the other one has turned into... :)
