Depeche mode soundset
Not saying i'm the best sound designer in the world not by a long way !!But you lot heard that D-mode soundset??wot a load of fucking shite !
|
yeah, no doubt! depeche chode is more like it
|
Funny thing is,Depeche mode are my favorite band of all time !!!
So how dissapointed was I |
Man I get this a lot when listening to others patches, start to wonder what I'm doing wrong, like playing them wrong, but forget that they've been at it years and probably got alot of outboard effect running on things (and samplers), plus I read the interview and they probably hardly use the sound from the ti yet. I suspected that the soundset would be a dissapointment so not down loaded it yet.

Sound design for yourself and sound design for general release are different problems. As you say - they after probably intended for use in a specific track, or with a certain processing chain in mind, or certain way of playing.
Even alot of the presets can sound crap/useless unless you know what kind of sequence/progression/style etc was in mind when it was created. Ive not checked this sound set out yet, probably a random collection of stores from when they were messing around rather than anything from their current material. |
That Tiesto Virus-TI soundset, too... Was that actually made by Tiesto himself, or was it made by someone else emulating the Tiesto style?

He only writes the main chords\idea and then he has a sound designer\enginier\whatever who finishes writing it and then mix it. I dont have any of his shit but if you do,you should have a lock at the back of the CD at the credits part. I wont be suprised to se a bunch of names other then his. |

I think there are 12 patches in all and not one good to man or beast I've a few soundsets myself and they are good MS incubation for example.. |
Gonna have a listen - this mean I have to dig out the projectile vomit smiley again? ;)
|
![]() OK - to be fair - they do sound rather depeche modey... well a couple of them do... of the erm.. 12 - :? - something missing here? |
love that smiley,
In general when you get soundsets they're cr@p, I mean I have bought laods over the years and now have some of the top ones, but even a good few of them are utter balox. I do like MS set but I find at best any soundset will only have a handfull of patches that you'll play (I don't say use as I have synths for playing) I find it best to share patches with users and then build banks with my favorites. I have now started doing some programming, and get some good results, but they are my patches and that make me biased. Sorry for rant just relised I wasted a load of money on various soundsets  I'll check out the depeche modey ones after work, curious now. GND you every met this MS? or seen him play etc? he's from over your way. Like his stuff, but I've got some other patches from elsewhere that are close and some even better. (But again some erhm modey) Cheers Kris |

A Pain
I agree there, my thought is that only "A Pain" is pretty accurate to the original.
And heck, that's what we want, an accurate or near accurate resamblance so you can get started playing. Sometimes you want to try to recreate the sound yourself, but sometimes you want to make it easy on yourself and have the patch ready available. Then it is some dissapointment that it is useless (what? i feel a song coming up.) But keep Mode-ing, the guys are great and i started buying hardware again in 2009 after seeing the vid's of them working in the studio with all that vintage gear. and i have lots of fun now. Any one willing to share his or hers DM patches, from any DM song!!! If you google a bit you may find loads of accapellas so you can make your own covers. watch my covers if you will on www.youtube.com\ricardodilago or http://soundcloud.com/ricardo-di-lago |
