News from Apple OMFG!
|
Looks great and the price is finally right. You have to pay the same price if you build a pc with same parts. However, there are not enough universal binary audio applications available yet to take full advantage of the new mac. For example, half of the plugins I use wouldn't work at all, neither would my dsp cards + plugins. Anyway, I don't even need more power right now. I'll be using my g5 as long as it keeps working. :D
|
Seems like both camps are being stuffed at the moment - the apple guys with lack of universal binaries and the windows guys through lack of Win64 drivers and apps (though the apps arnt so essential).
FFS vendors - get yr fingers out and get the apps and drivers sorted allready!!!! |
never mind the Mac Pro, get all the new features in Leopard, plus more to come.
Still, the machine is awesome, imagine having enough dough to get max-spec !!!! |
I hate the fact that everytime they bring out a new machine they say "the fastest ever mac"
I've heard that like 3 years ago when I bought my single processor 1.6 ghz G5. Fuckers!!!!! |

LOL - that would have been about the time us heathens were using >3Ghz P4s with 800Mhz memeory ;) The funniest thing in this with these new machines is the only way I could one as the heart of my studio would be to stick windows XP on it and run run it windows only :) Even apple would have to appreciate the irony in that  |
Windows XP !!!!
I'd rather eat my own flesh Thats one dog of an OS ! |

One of the driving forces of instability on all the Windows Os is the proliferation of chipsets out there, some mobo's with the same chipsets even have differences in memory access timings etc.
The beauty of the mac as a platform is you NEVER get that. Hence the pointless excercise of OSX on PC. Even Linux on the PC is mired in driver issues, while the Mac platform version is relatively painless. This is one of the reasons that professionals pay out the extra wodge for a Mac, they just don't want to have to deal with all the horseshit on the PC platform. |

As already mentioned above, currently, there's still lots of incompatibilities, but all software and hardware companies have big interests in developing drivers and software for the new versions of OSX-Pirate, financial interests. Strategic interests, and obvious interests to make their products compatible with this new turn of OSX, cuz it may possibly become more popular than Linux. |
Errr, ask Nvidia if they'll be developing drivers for the pirate version of OSX-PC anytime soon, and post the answer on here.
This....I want to hear |
Well... MacOs on PC, but I will eat my hat (don?t have one, but will even buy one to eat if I?m wrong) if someone ever legally succeeds in that... :)
Gotta admit, it would be convenient though... |
I dont know...I really dont rate Macs. They do nothing for me.
Could someone plz explain to me why people tend to be all elitist about it. Do they use lots of analog components? DS |

well let me just sum up the relationship between windows and macos in one brief comparison to something we all experience. virus control WORKS on mac os (apart from some latency) not the case in windows. |
