yeah, sounds like that ref should be taken out back and shot. How the fuck do you give a player their second yellow card and fail to send them off?

The ref actually gave old mate a third yellow card at the end of the game - so effectively he was sent off twice :roll:

That was like winning the whole damn tournament for the aussies (next match italy :( )

From watching the highlights - that game looked like complete chaos.

Was the whole match like that?

Sure was Khazul - I would like to see the penalty count - the ref was nearly playing a tune with that whistle at one stage during the second half...

Certainly made for interesting viewing.

There were 20,000 people at Federation Square in Melbourne watching the game on big screens - the police closed most of the CBD down - considering the size of the Italian community in Melbourne they will nearly have to shut the entire city down for the next match against Italy

To the referees credit - in real time, it looked like a foul. But when he goes home and checks the reply - I sincerely hope he feel violently ill.

We played 11 vs 10 most of the game with a red card against Italy - unfortunately we just didnt have the striking power to convert - perhaps Kewell would have been the difference....

All credit to the Italian's defensive game - but honestly it shouldve gone to a shoot out - and given Italy's history with shootouts we wouldve been a red hot chance...

I could keep going on - but I would be missing the point if I didnt say WELL FUCKING DONE AUSSIES YOU DID YOUR COUNTRY PROUD

Well, Aussies had more of the ball than Italy, next time they'll use it.

I did say I shouldve gone to bed - but Im still way too emotional to sleep.

Ive watched nearly every game of this world cup, and that was the worst referee decision yet (apart from old mate that got three yellow cards in the last game against Croatia).

Like I said - all credit to Italy's defensive game (credit where credit is due) - but at this point I cant avoid the urge to tighten that ref's head in a vice till common sense started pooring out his nose...

Where was Kennedy? Would that sub have made the difference?

I guess the Aussies went to sleep thinking they were going into extra time. Italy actually played some football in those last minutes.
