February has come and gone......
And no v1.10 !!
I wonder when access will change the announcement on their site ? I'm looking at the options to replace my older kit and the TI looks tempting. Listening to the problems some users are having I would be mad to buy one before v1.10 appeared, but here we are in the month of March with no v1.10 !! Hmmmmm |

I bought a TI Polar a couple of days ago from a store with a 30-day return policy (Guitar Center in Chicago). After loading OS 1.0.9 (via USB), I simply connected the Polar to my rig using MIDI cables and the 1/4" outputs. After playing with the Polar for maybe a dozen hours, in single, multi, and sequencer modes, it appears as though the instrument works perfectly. As a standalone synth, the TI has many enhancements vs my old Indigo. Although a new Polar is expensive (I paid $2400US), I would have bought it in a second even without any promise of VC functionality. I, too, am looking forward to Access making the whole Virus Control aspect live up to its hype. But I run DP, which VC isn't compatible with (although supposed to be in 1.1, I think). I am making great music (I hope :) ) with my TI as is. And someday - hopefully soon - Access will get all the bugs worked out of VC - and then, IMHO, the Polar will be worth twice the money I paid for it. :) MW |
Updates don't usally get released on time due to fine tweaking, bug fixing, etc...
Lets wait as when it comes it will be a better update for all of us :) It's frustrating, I understand as I own a TI desktop |
MW... Is it a trick of my monitor or are you sporting an awesome set of sideburns?

Sigh. The pleasures of middle-age.... :) |
Tee-hee...
How do you rate the Abysnth 3? (It's a toss up between this and Spectrasonics Atmosphere) |

I've never played Atmosphere, so I can't compare. |

It's weird innit, how a keyboard becomes the darling of those who've caught DJ-VD, just because they can dully emulate the worthless trance/dance/prance/mince tracks they love so much.
There's another thread on here somewhere "Choose your favourite DJ", I kid you not ! more like choose your favourite disease !!!! Funny how mixing records together has become an art form, its a bit like making sandwiches becoming the new yoof movement, just imagine. DJ Peckerhead is in full-effect just look how he slides the salami into the crazy dill...... The beauty of the Virus is NOT to use it to make dance music but to subvert the idiom and use it to make ANYTHING but dance music, that would be admirable. |

You've now obligated yourself to give a listen and decide for yourself what kind of music I compose. :) http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=146142 Happy listening! |
That was interesting, trance it ain't, but mellow electronica.
Thats what happens when you're an arrogant youth, judging books by covers etc. I'll bet he was expecting Eric Clapton radio-friendly M.O.R or something. Pleasantly surprised I was ! Constructive criticism: Some great ideas, and some excellent solo melodies etc, but it does sound a lot like a demo for the instrument(s) I wonder if you are making these as pieces of music or you are interested in song structure etc. If you were to work with a lyricist or an acoustic musician, what would happen to the structure/composition I wonder. But gladly, the cover does the book no justice. |
Nice track MW7...Good flow, mixed well and nice sounds

For quite a few years I did freelance work creating demos for instrument manufacturers. For example, I created lots of original MIDI files for Yamaha to use when launching their XG synths and soundcards back in the 90's. AMD hired me (along with Thomas Dolby, Jan Hammer, Keith Emerson, etc.) to create demos for the launch of a new wavetable chip for soundcards. I also created music to demonstrate the musical capabilities of WebTV's set-top box, and Creative Labs used my music at tradeshows (like Comdex) to demonstrate their soundcards. I guess all of that "demo" work has influenced me.... Now I am just a guy at home who likes to try and make "cool sounding stuff" with my synths, and I guess I am still making product demos. :) But thanks for your observations and kind words. |
Ha ha, awesome photo, you're in Metallica aren't you ?
