SP2 for the TI - recommended?
I was wondering whether updating my DAW OS would make any improvements in regard to my current TI problems (mainly the arp timing thing).
since I have almost no other reason to run SP2 with my DAW, I would really like to know if it has any benefits regarding the TI operation. anyone? Best, midi. |
Were running on SP1...No problems here.
Your problems are starting to worry me  |
Thx Girl. I`m really trying to nail down the cause of my problem and can`t yet figure out if its my Daw, my sequencer, my TI or a combination of all. any piece of information or advice could be helpful...

I would also try another seqencer, Were using Logic 5.5.1. If i remember rightly down at the Music show in Frankfurt at the start of the year i saw Nuendo (Which is what your using,Right?) and it looked a spitting image of Cubase so maybe you should have a bash with Cubase.also borrow another soundcard..Just for test purposes. Also Something i have had real problems with in the past is NTFS.I couldn't get Logic 5.5.1. to run on it so i changed to FAT 32 (I had to Format the drive with an old Win 98 boot CD to get it into that state) now it's running sweet.. But everyone seems to think different http://www.musicxp.net/hardware_tips.php ..... http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=16406 Fat32 for me  |
A long shot....Maybe it's a USB issue???????????? BIOS update...
|
I find it hard to imagine that a file system has got anything to do with a tight arpegio...and in any case, FAT32 is not really an option for me these days.

- Deactivating USB legacy support in BIOS. - No USB devices plugged except the Ti and the Nuendo dongle. - Uninstalling the USB ports in XP`s device manager. non of these made any real difference. Best, midi. |

Here is something off the record...But reference Sequencer problems..I had a problem a while back and a mate of mine at ESi suggested turning down my settings on my Graphic card,i said "Do what"? "Your avin' a laugh ain't ya"..He was F***ing right...

No, havn`t tried that one yet.
in any case, my Daw has been very stable running the RME card so far. RME also has a longstanding reputation of having the best ASIO hardware in the business... Best, midi. |
The longest shot Yet  For some reason a/some patches in our patches folder were stopping our save button from working (Its true !)
temporarily take them out apart from the ones that come with the Ti.. I know, its a real long shot...........Now i'm just getting desperate :? |

I hope your friend would understand... Best, midi. |
As far as I know SP2 updates major security issues, but why upgrade a stable DAW which never connects to internet? If it aint broke dont fix it, I'm running SX2 atm with SP1a and sometimes i forget to save my song beacuse i do not experience any crash at all.. SX3 is unstable yet so I'm running my Ti with SX2 and have only some well known timing issues. Hope access will pay attention to develop a stable virus control that works on any host. I dont see any point upgrading my rig just for 1 plugin and then mess all the others. No risk-great fun

Today I accidentally got sample accurate timing.
Try this. I had a song I was working on in Cubase with virus control, I was laying down each TI part to a wave file and it was questionable midi timing for arps and even just sequenced parts. Error range of under 10 ms plus or minus. Then in desperation to try to find the best timing, this happened. I was trying to 'hot unplug' the USB with Cubase open to test regular midi cable and after that plugged the USB back in. Loaded virus control fresh opened my saved fxp file of the session and continued to capture wave files. THE VERY NEXT TRACK WAS A TI KIK DRUM AND IT WAS IN SAMPLE ACCURATE TIMING!!!! For the whole 5 minute track. I did it a few times to make sure it wasn't a fluke. So I'm not sure the the #@$ is going on but maybe it's because Cubase is open when you plug in the USB this prevents the TI from loading lots of other audio and midi stuff. Anyway back I go. |
Thanks grs, will try.
my only concern is how healthy is it for your TI (or system) to 'hot plug' the USB link in this manner? Best, midi. |
It's not used for power, just make sure you touch the metal of the usb cable with one hand and the TI with the other hand before plugging back in to avoid static discharge.
