Cubase Sx1 VSTi Parameters

Hi!

Heres the thing:

I just bought a Edirol PCR-M50 MIDI controller and i want to assign it's knobs and sliders to Cubase SX's VSTi's but i need to know what MIDI number these parameters on the VSTi's have. Is there any way i can do that without a manual to every single VSTi?

Also, do anyone know how to "bounce" VSTi's?

I havent tried this yet......I also have a Edirol PCR50 and in the manual it says I can control faders etc from cubase, but I still havent gotten around to actually figuring out how to do it.

As far as bouncing goes.....just solo the VSTi channel, set your left/right locators, and click export audio file.

Easy.

:)

techno_7 08.05.2005 06:50 AM

I'm not sure about setting up VSTIs in Cubase with an external controller as I don't use VSTIs so much, but setting up a controller for faders, sends and EQs is relatively easy. I'm using Cubase VST32 and all I do is edit the remote section (just look for remote in the menus). I use my Virus knobs for basicly everything in Cubase.

I'm guessing SX is the same or at least similar. :)

Ok, i have now found out how to use controllers.

But i still have a problem because i dont really get into the VSTi.
I can only control the VSTi mixer which is for volume and sends ect.

Is there any way i can control the parameters INSIDE the VST?

It seems that i can only control the VSTi MIXER, MIDI MIXER, Master MIXER, the transport, and master commands of cubase. Where do i control ONE specific VSTi's parameters and not the mixers?

Yes you can, but you need to find the manual or goto the website and find the midi cc listing for each vsti you're using, then map those cc numbers to your midi controller. Most of them are the same or very similar, but some are different. Some support midi learn where you click the midi learn button, turn a knob on your midi controller and it will bind to it.

Also I dont believe freeze was in sx1, or at least it was extremely shit if it was. Its only just got useable on sx3 so it might be worth looking to upgrade (only ?100 from arbiter.co.uk)

But how?

In my General Remote in device setup theres only MIDI mixer VSTi mixer mixer command and no assignment listet in the popup.

ten 13.05.2005 04:36 PM

You need to find out how to assign certain cc numbers to the knobs on your midi controller. Assign the cc numbers that are the ones you want to control on the vsti, this is why u need the cc map for the vsti. You will also want to read the manual to your midi controller to find out how to assign certain ccs to the knobs. Dont worry about all that general remote mixer shit, its a load of crap in sx1 and doesnt work properly.

It should be the same concept in SX1 as in SX3.

ten 13.05.2005 05:37 PM

You would think so wouldnt you.

A lot of things are broken and were left broken in sx1 only to be fixed in sx2/3.

Either way, you need to read the manuals for you're controller and sx.

How much do a upgrade cost?

ten 13.05.2005 06:30 PM

?100 from sx1>sx3

I would suggest going to www.cubase.net and asking there. They will be able to explain better.
