Wonder what Clavia is up to???
Without any new products at NAMM, wonder what they have going on in their lab? I bet they are revamping the nord series to compete witht the TI like integrations. I also am thinking they are going to announce something at Messe in April. That is why Access is dead set on getting the TI's out before then.
Any thoughts? |
Hmmmm, A TI killer in the works over at the Clavia lab.
That would be interesting. Again, I think that boards like this are specialized to a degree. Each has their strengths and weaknesses. Sound preference is subjective from user to user, musician to musician. Sure technical specs are more objective to compare. It's about sound, power, flexibility, price, integration with other components/systems, etc. I'm enforcing a 1 year moratorium on gear acquisition so that I learn to use what I have really well. I'm so damn afflicted with O.C.D. I would buy 1 of every synth (the good ones that is) if money allowed! |
As for me, it all comes down to ease of use.
TI seems to achieve that, so I preordered mine. However, if another synth could complement the TI with the same ease of use, might be interresting :) |

As far as gear acquisition goes. I am done once the TI comes out for awhile. I think having too many options can be limiting. I know that sounds wierd, but once you do, you will see what I mean. When that happens, you are always searching for the right preset instead of attempting to make the patch. Just babblin away. . . . . I'll stop now :P |
yeah id be real interested to know what clavia are up to.
just not sure if a revamp of the 3 series will be worthwhile - id be interested in a beefed up 3 with a firewire 800 port transmitting 16 channels simultaneously   |

I'd be interetsed to know too actually. What ever they come out with, I'm sure it will be amazing.

who cares as long as the prices on the modular g1 and g2 will drop (good for me!!) :)
i think clavia are going to anounce a modular based workstation with complete sampling engine, easy to use pysical modeling, large hd,advence g2 VA engine, builtin fx and tons of dsp power with some very inovating interface which will atract to even thos who are afrid of modulars. price tag: 3799 euro on preorder :D |

I think Clavia is indeed improving NordLead series, but we won't be seeing TI-like stuff on Nordleads because Clavia focuses making NL's for performing keyboardists. I think we'll see wavetables, etc, with easy patch switching and NL's famous cut-through sound, just what players need.
NL's for players, Modulars for studio. That's my guess. |

Sounds like you have them spot on. i would tend to agree with everything you have said. Although I would like to see some built in fx on the NL series. |
What's up with the new designed site? May be some new products 8O
http://www.clavia.se/products/index.htm |
Looks nice, and it is probably not a coincidence knowing that Messe '05 is right around the corner too. Ought to be interesting stuff unfolding in the next 4 weeks.
|
Indeed it does come with a new product @ Messe '05!!
...It says so on their site. "Discover our new model"! ![]() with a link to an Adobe PDF teaser. http://www.clavia.se/bilder/clavia_newrelease.pdf The plot thickens.... 8) By the size of that pic, it looks like a full-on 61-noter. PS > What does "puff mitten" mean in Swedish? "New product", I guess? "Bilder", as well? |
my guess is either an new electro, or a new Lead. Maybe they smartened up and decided to put 61 keys in the nord series. Dont know, but I am interested. <-- done buying gear for the year, but doesn't top G.A.S.

Mitten = Middle.. So i guess that is just all jibberish. Quote:
A swedish lesson |
I *really* hope its not an Electro or something. Id love to see a 61 key Nord 4 with inbuilt effects from the G2 engine

Merlot....Id prob try and buy both.....just for the ultimate VA combo. Then id be done with buying VA's.....

Hope he's well and Mrs HC's doing ok too. Have a few shrimps on the barbie for me! DS |
Word on the street is it is some sort of rhodes piano type instrument. Who knows though???? :?
|
My guess that this new Clavia product will indeed be a new Nord 4 or something. There are rumours that the N3 is going to be discontinued anytime now....
Besides the N3 has had a run of 4 years or so.....not bad. Time for something new in this fast paced synth market. DS |

but theres the nord electro 1 and 2 that can reproduce the exact rhods sound so why creat another one?
