My friend tell me that I'd better buy a NL2 and a NL3.thay can give me different's sound? for trance music. and I think NORD's sound is more powerfull and warmer, harder than VIRUS's sound. |

The nord does have a different sound than the virus. To my ears, it is much brighter and not as dark. Defenitely dont think it is more powerful than the virus, especially after hearing the TI. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though. Here's a suggestion: Get the Nord then! |
Nords are bright, not dark. Nord is bright and cutting, when Virus is dark, warm and more "backgroundish". Nords tend to shear through everything (afterall they are Nordleads), and that's one reason why you rarely see any other VA than Nordleads in bands.

A combination of them both wouldn't be wrong an any way - An Virus Kb + an nordrack 2 would be a perfect setup.

The NL2 (and the other older nords) do sound different to the NL3 I've heard. My friend has an NL3 and a Nord micro modular, and in his latest tracks he uses the micro modular for bass over the NL3. He told me that the micro modular can put out better bass than the 3. Having a Virus and a Nord is a great combo. They both are very full characture VAs, but can do very different sounds. |

Virus KC: Darker, warmer, more atmospheric, more powerful in terms of sound complexity. Nord 3: Bright, digital, more 'happy' sounding..... *If you want to make happy sounding synth pop sounds the Nord 3 does a more convincing job. If you need dark atmosphere (which kinda resembles old Sequential/Oberheim analog synths then the Virus wins out. If VA is your cup of tea then the Virus and N3 are the nicest combo. DS |

Are you changing from Emu to Akai? Or are you just buying a second sampler? As far as you asking about "vintage analogue sound", I'm really not sure of what you mean by this. |
teacher Hollowcell:)
I will buy a akai s6000 or s5000 or Z8. because some good akai sampel file change to emu format after, have some problem.I think emu's filter is good, but the filterband is better:) I think all software sampler can not beats the e6400 and S5000/6000. besides symphony's sound, the software have nomore goodsound. vintage.... My meaning is...hmh.... for Example .I use EMU to read a JP8'sound or juno 106's sound or moog. I think the filterbank that after EMU can help me make these sounds like real JP,JUNO,MOOG.not digital sound. |
Has anyone used a G2 Engine? I like the idea of modular synthesis but I'm frightened 8O Would it be too much hassle using the Modular editor alongside, say, Cubase and assigning parameters to MIDI controllers when you've got beats moving on the fly? Is the G2 something that has immediacy of use or does it involve a lot of noodling over for hours on end?

its very user friendly IMO.
|
Smag - Download the G2 Demo from the Clavia website. It will give you an idea of how it is. Its really user friendly.
|
it doesnt feature 30% of the hardware g2 real sound.
