Another virus kc owner -!! hello

well ! I have actually had the virus kc for 4 months but today managed to conquer the mod matrix section , it has had me stumped due to the way its explained (or lack thereoff) in the manual. :D
In August I bought a nord lead 3 (rack) virus kc and roland fantom xr.. Its been a wicked but overwhelming couple of months and I only starting to feel confident enough with them now to start producing. On that side of things I am using a protools 6.7 setup with a digi 002 and command 8 combo. I am looking into buying sonar but for the mean time pro tools is doing midi sequencing just fine! I am writing melodic trance and have had several different keyboard and computer combos over the years. The first was an amiga and jx8p and now I am using a 3200 AMD with 1 gig ddr ram and all the trimings :)

Happy new year!!! and its good to be here!

my setup^

I havent even looked at it, and I've had my Virus over a year now. I think it would do my head in, and Im still happy just fiddling with the cutoff knob

I can sit for hours playing the same sequence and tweaking that cutoff, it's nearly the only knob I touch (Quiet HC! I know what ur going to say...)

What?! I wasn't gunna say anything. You are getting more and more sensative these days mate. :D

Friendly isn't the most common adjective used when refering to us lot. Especially Juho. Hehehe.

Anyway.....Seeing as I had to post a reply to Jase-the-cutoffknob-killer, I may as well ask a few questions;

Where are you from?
What style/styles of music do you make?
Do you have fond memories of Octamed on the Amiga as I do?
Is a man with only one ball considered half a man?

DIGITAL SCREAMS 30.12.2004 08:28 AM

Hi man and welcome to the forum

xsdata-kc 01.01.2005 04:17 AM

thanks for all the "nice setup: ccomments!!! Its really quite a plesure working with all this equipment.

I am based in Melbourne Australia! (another ONE !) And like all styles of trance but particularly melodic psychedelic !! Should have a clip up soon, but just have to tweak a few more filters, melodys, progressions, volume levels ARGHH!! ( u no how it is!!) :D

Hollowcell 01.01.2005 01:59 PM

No way! Another Ausi. We are taking over this Euro trash now for sure. :D That's a joke for all you Euro trash that are overly sensative.

3o3 01.01.2005 05:21 PM

Euro Trash?!

Pfffff.. We still have everything under control here.

Welcome. How do you like the Nord 3? I was thinking about getting one of those or the motif racks to compliment the virus.

I have a Virus & Motif rack, and think it is a pretty good combination...The motif rack is the first place I go for piano's, organs, and acoustic styled instruments. Drums are OK, and there are even some VA sounds, and not bad ones too!

Thanks m8, i will defenitely look into the motif more. Is programming it a pain in the arse?

I dont actually do much programming in the Motif, I just take the sounds as is and process later using other plug-ins.

I havent even gotten that far into the Motif....Just presets Im afraid. The Virus takes up most of my programming time

I've tweaked my friend's Motif and it's very intuitive to program. Probably done easiest with the PC editor because of loads of menus and tweakable parameters, but the HW editing is also pretty fast and easy. Although it has that "Yamaha logic", which might feel strange at first, but when you get used to it the editing is swift. If you have ever owned/used an A-series sampler, the menu structure should be familiar.

nord lead 3

I haven't spent heaps of time on the NOrd lead 3, but what I have done on it has been satisfying!! I have heard some pretty cool sounds created by the nord lead 3... It is quite digital sounding, which I didn't like at first but have actually grown fond of  Love the interface and how nothing is hidden in menus !

yes I loved octamed on the amiga, I got it free on the cover of an amiga magazine (can't rem the name!) 8O
