3 new Virus or another hoax?
http://www.gearjunkies.com/news/266
*edit* oh well...it must have been a hoax cos the link is now down |
try this one..
http://www.gearjunkies.com/product_i...ducts_id=13275 virus ti polar mmmm :) From inside a host application, the plug-in enables the new VIRUS hardware to appear as a multi-channel VST/AU soft-synth with up to 4 sub-mixes (or 2 ? stereo). Access? proprietary driver technology makes VIRUS TI the world?s first hardware synthesizer with sample-accuracy timing and a delay-compensated audio/MIDI connection. Also new is HyperSaw?. It taps up to 9 parallel sawtooth oscillators (plus 9 optional subs!) for colossal classic layers. The number of voices can be changed smoothly in realtime. Surprisingly, HyperSaw doesn?t require additional power or reduce your polyphony! With 9 main plus subs per voice, the VIRUS TI can play over 1800 oscillators in realtime! Now imagine Access? award winning filters, including MiniMoog cascade emulation, on raw, pulsating WaveTables or insanely fat HyperSaws. With these new features, the Virus has never sounded better! polyphony is more than doubled, to 80 voices under average conditions. I will seriously cream my pants and post photos on the internet if this is real  ten |
this link also doesnt work

Ah well, i still have the page loaded, here is the rest of the gubbins...
Access Virus TI Polar Access Access Music is excited to announce the new VIRUS Total Integration (TI) Line of synthesizers, leading the world in a completely new direction with musical instrument and pro-audio convergence. TOTAL INTEGRATION uses innovative technology to greatly expand the VIRUS Synthesizer, resulting in an advanced stage/standalone instrument, while simultaneously extending the product capabilities with a suite of compelling studio integration features. Product tools Extended information New synth features include greatly increased polyphony, 2 new oscillator types, a per-patch programmable arpeggiator, 16?2 delay/reverb fx, embedded singles in multi mode, and much more. The new TI products link to your computer with VIRUSControl?, a companion software product which ports the hardware synth into a host sequencer for use as a sample-accurate VST/AU instrument, simultaneously offering 2-way audio and MIDI connectivity, control surface functionality, editor and librarian functions, and more. > THE FIRST TOTALLY INTEGRATED SYNTHESIZER A scalable USB link connects the VIRUS to a Mac or PC for total integration of synth and studio. The VIRUSControl? plug-in automatically detects and connects the synth, ensuring a hassle-free configuration every time. From inside a host application, the plug-in enables the new VIRUS hardware to appear as a multi-channel VST/AU soft-synth with up to 4 sub-mixes (or 2 ? stereo). Access? proprietary driver technology makes VIRUS TI the world?s first hardware synthesizer with sample-accuracy timing and a delay-compensated audio/MIDI connection. Seamless interconnectivity also provides a real benefit in the software sequencer environment. All multi-timbral sounds and settings used for a project are stored within it with the plug-in, for snapshot ??total recall?? plus editor and librarian functions with no SysEx or 3rd party software hassles. The new VIRUS hardware is also well-equipped to capitalize on the power of Total Integration. With 24-bit 192KHz balanced analog, S/PDIF I/O and MIDI in and out ports, the new VIRUS is well-suited for use as the main audio and MIDI I/O center for your entire rig. These functions are especially practical for the laptop studio, offering an unmatched range of features and capabilities from one product. Additionally, a new ??Remote Mode?? allows the VIRUS hardware to become a control surface for any MIDI-capable device or software, mapping each of the 33 knobs to a specific MIDI message. TI ships with a great selection of templates and includes 32-user memories for custom controller maps. It?s a powerful addition that greatly increases the value of the synth?s studio footprint. THE LEGENDARY SOUND OF ACCESS: EVOLVED Of course, TI is still a VIRUS, with all the soul of its legendary predecessors, but for Total Integration, the power and performance of the synth engine have been taken to new extremes, thanks to a newly optimized core which delivers unprecedented performance. For starters, polyphony is more than doubled, to 80 voices under average conditions. And the sound? Phenomenal! Alongside the award-winning VIRUS oscillator models, two completely new types have been added. First is the real Wavetable oscillator model. This unique algorithm can blend waves to create evolving motion or switch between them to create gritty lo-fi textures. The Mod Matrix has also been expanded to 6 sources with three destinations each (18 routings total) for greater real-time control and patch programming freedom. The new ??Knob Quantize Mode?? syncs the effect of real-time or sequenced parameter changes to a pre-selected clock interval. Changes are updated on the selected pulse and held until the next, resulting in staggered parameter movements like those produced by a step sequencer. New and existing Virus owners will love the addition of a programmable arpeggiator! Users can create and store their own rhythmic pattern in every patch. Enhanced with new power and resources, Multi Mode now embeds 16 patches for self-contained sounds you can tweak and transform without overwriting your singles or affecting other Multi programs. Use it to build impressive layers, splits, or poly-arps for performance or recording. A mode for use with sequencers is also provided, emulating the classic Multi which loads sounds from within the single banks. In either case, the complete sound engine is always available to each Multi part, including dedicated delay and separate reverb fx for all 16 sounds. In effect, the full VIRUS TI single modes is replicated 16 times! > OPTIMIZATION FROM THE GROUND UP Besides adding great convergence and synth engine features, Total Integration is built around a major hardware platform upgrade, sporting a complete redesign inside and out. A large white graphic display shows multiple parameters at the same time which can be edited using three Soft Knobs. Keyboard models feature an illuminated logo on the I/O panel (it looks great, and even pulses in sync with the tempo for other musicians or the audience to enjoy). Also new in the hardware, a Tap Tempo button helps live VIRUS musicians stay in sync with drummers and turntablists using a sophisticated algorithm based on Access? SyncXtreme technology. HOW IS IT ALL POSSIBLE? Inside, a new Dual-DSP core delivers stellar performance with super-low latency. TI also employs studio-grade converters with 192 Khz/24-bit D/A. These are paired with +4 dB balanced inputs and outputs and a switchable ??soft limiting?? algorithm, and accompanied by S/PDIF digital stereo output and input as well. The onboard USB port is compatible with USB 2 specifications and works with USB and Hi-Speed USB devices and peripherals. For easy access to all these new jacks, the entire I/O panel of the TI desktop model can be rotated 90 degrees so the interface is on the rear panel. The 4U Rack mounting kit is also included with the desktop model. Last but certainly not least, the onboard memory has been drastically expanded: 512 RAM patches and 2048 (rewritable) ROM patches plus space for 16 ??self-contained?? Multi Mode programs described above. All these new numbers add up to one hell of a synthesizer. Well three actually! Technical specifications The VIRUS TI DSPs are not only faster, they come in pairs now. A highly effective local buss in between the processors boosts performance even further. > Bigger Display In fact, a much bigger Liquid Crystal Display, which can show graphics (128x32 pixels). The display shows up to 4 rows of text and graphics. In most cases three parameters are being displayed at the same time. As a result, there are only 1/3 of the menu pages in comparison to the previous VIRUS series. > Extended Memory 512 RAM patches and 2048 ROM sounds + 16 Multi Mode slots which embed all patches used. > Studio Grade D/A Converters 192 Khz studio grade D/A converters (+4dB balanced output), with optional soft limiting algorithm. 24 bit A/D converters. > Quicker Editing 3 edit knobs underneath the display which can edit three parameters at the same time. The 3 soft knobs can also act as programmable and nameable knobs for every individual patch. > Tap Tempo There is a dedicated Tap tempo button. The tap tempo algorithm used is based on SyncXtreme, Access? acclaimed tempo sync algorithm introduced last year for the VIRUS C series. > Digital I/O and USB The VIRUS TI comes with SP/DIF (44.1khz/ 48khz) digital I/O as standard. The USB port is compatible with the USB 2.0 Specification and works with USB and Hi-Speed USB systems, peripherals and cables. Read more about the USB Audio/MIDI integration on the next page. > Better Overview New front panel layout with redesigned sections and SHIFT button for easy access to even more parameters through the front panel. > Simplified User Interface EXIT button for easier navigation (EXIT gets out of a menu back on the play page) > Quicker Mod Matrix Navigation Dedicated buttons to scroll through the Mod matrix slots and destinations > Painless rack mounting The entire I/O board can be rotated by 90 degrees which makes rack-mounting the VIRUS much more fun. Instead of having to find special jack plugs or waste loads of rack space, simply turn the whole I/O section and voil?! - all the sockets are at the back of the rack mounted VIRUS TI Desktop. (VIRUS TI Desktop only) > Illuminated Logo Illuminated Access Logo on the rear of the VIRUS TI Keyboard and VIRUS TI P?LAR (=VIRUS Indigo successor). The logo pulsates in standby mode, and can be statically on during normal operation or pulsate to the tempo (like the tempo LED) which is especially nice for those drummers used to playing to a visual tempo source. > Rack-mounting kit included Rack mount kit included (user can replace wooden side panels with rack ears). (VIRUS Desktop only) I/O CONFIGURATION All connections to the outer world have been drastically improved ? 6 Symmetrical outs with +4dB studio level ? Optional Soft Limiting for every output ? 192 Khz/24bit D/A converters ? 2 Inputs with 24-bit A/D converters ? 4 different input sensitivities ? USB for audio, midi and data connection ? S/PDIF In/Out for Digital I/O. ? Dedicated headphone out. There's been alot of talk about this over at harmonycentral. I did notice just the other day when I was doing a reserach on eBay for Access gear, a Virus Indido II appeared being sold my Matt Picone? In case you didn't know he's one of the sound designers for the Access team. The ebay link is below.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW Now I thought at first why would he sell it? Could it indicate a new synth is very close and he's in line to receive it to start developing pre-sets for NAMM 2005 (jan 20-23) show? Maybe so, then there would be no reason for him to keep the Indigo II and auction it off now at a higher price before the Ti is officially announced. I'd auction mine off too...but I got a Redback :D |
As one of the bigger hoax creaters on this board regarding Access, all I have to say is; This thing is in my studio now sitting next to my Indigo3!
|
Would someone go to all the trouble of writing the damn thing for a laugh !
Well I am not laughing.......... |
exacly what im thinking
this is acually sound very belivable. no superfeatues like lfos syncing to vocal commands and stuff  |

I wonder how many people really take these rumours seriously. I know some (a quite many actually) have contacted Access for these hoaxes. Do really people believe that a release of a new Access synth is announced on crappy forums and posting lists before the official site. G?hihi. Gullible fools. Probably trance people. BUAHAHAHA! |
I think access would deny it anyway right up to the hour of thier own official announcement.
Some geezer I know belives they will announce something on monday...we can only wait ;) ten |
Well rather than specualte about something that isn't even here. Lets just wait till Monday then.
:D Don't contact Access until you have soemthing concrete to base your questions on hey. |
I would donate one testicle for that there synth.
|
Hey, ill give both of mine......they only get you into trouble anyway
ten |
I'll throw in one of my legs too, along with said bollock.
|
![]() mmm.... 3D render. Attention to detail, though - 32 knobs used, as on the Virus B and C. Damn nice tho, and great internal "spec's". But still no ribbon controller. ...There's room for one under those mod wheels as well. :| |
Wheter hoax or not, this kind of total integration is the right way to go for hardware epuipment.
Compared to plug-ins, hardware synths are currently a big hassle to work with in terms of recalling the settings from song to song, having the song play correctly after some time, selecting patches/editing the multi and archiving patches. And in most cases all this needs to be done for a number of outside equipment per song, not just one synth. How many editors would one like to open in parallel to an overloaded sequencer? I for instance have to open one for the Virus, one for the Motif Rack and one for TR-Rack. I'd need a video wall to see them all at once, plus Cubase doesn't like to loose focus all the time. The way integration is described above, it reminds TC Powercore combined with an outside audio/midi interface, so it must be feasible. Anyone who wrote the specs, be it Access or a regular user like us, really understands where music tech goes and proposes something that is both feasible and needs to be done to compete to the ever better sounding plug-ins. As far as the new sound engine is concerned, having 16 single sounds would of course be awesome, but this maybe the biggest hint for a hoax, as 16 delay/reverbs do need a lot of power and RAM. Add to these fx 80+ poly and you have something way beyond today's standards... Time will tell! DS |
The VST integration was indeed a brilliant idea. You would be able to add VST FX to everytrack without having to record it first.
|
>>but this maybe the biggest hint for a hoax, as 16 delay/reverbs do need a lot of power and RAM.
AFAIK, the Novation Supernova II had delay/'verb effects available on each and every part. That was back in 2000. Admittedly, though, the Supernova II had, I think, just 8-part multi-timbrality, as opposed to the TI's alleged 80! lol 80-note poly would go down well, though. You could start to use the Virus as a serious "workstation"-type VA synth in the context, with numerous multi-timbral layered unison pads, leads - you name it - all together. All you'd need now was an onboard sequencer. |

the prices of dsp are rather cheap now then 3-4 years ago.

looks like it is real. This was posted by Jay Vaughan to the virus mailing list....
Jay Vaughan <jv@access-music.de> 7:35am (5 hours ago) >Whether or not that spec is Jay's fantasy, it certainly sounds like the >right way to go! :-)) i swear to god, i have nothing to do with it! the spec isn't my fantasy; its a reality! -- |
It just would be weird to not release the news on the official page. I still believe it's hoax...
Edit: Plus the specs just seem too good to be true. |
IT'S REAL!!!

Oh yeah baby! It's real alright :D
So, how many people here are going to sell his/her kidney to get this puppy? I think I am - I can live with one kidney, plus one of them is acting up anyway :) |

Damn! It's really horrible to have this stage of GAS without money.
If there will be a workstation with that VST integration, we could have a perfect studio set. GAAAAH! Money! Now all sing along: Money, get away. Get a good job with good pay and you?re okay. Money, it?s a gas. Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash. New car, caviar, four star daydream, Think I?ll buy me a football team. Money, get back. I?m all right jack keep your hands off of my stack. Money, it?s a hit. Don?t give me that do goody good bullshit. I?m in the high-fidelity first class traveling set And I think I need a lear jet. Money, it?s a crime. Share it fairly but don?t take a slice of my pie. Money, so they say Is the root of all evil today. But if you ask for a raise it?s no surprise that they?re Giving none away. |
How much better is this thing than the C series??????
I mean, all I can really see that would be worthwhile is S/PDIF I/O. Using the Virus as a plug in VSTi, will this be powered by the Virus or will it chew up PCU resources? It just looks like a C, with a couple of fancy features....is there any new developments with sound etc??? Sorry, I dont know too much about this, and the specs dont make much sense to me :? Im not getting too excited here....only becuase I already have a Virus, and to get a new one would not be smart. I would rather something vintage or something crazy like Juho's V-Synth |

Nice.......how many people who thought it was a hoax can eat humble pie now ;)
(fucking december tho.....could of left us some time to save for it the fuckers :) ten |
I'm still hearing conflicting reports and I still don't see it on the Access page.
On one board they have even mentioned how the Gearjunkie site was hacked! I'm still waiting for the official word on the thing. |
here is a couple of pics that might change your mind :)
http://www.gearjunkies.com/product_gallery.php?id=2262 http://www.gearjunkies.com/product_gallery.php?id=2261 http://www.gearjunkies.com/product_gallery.php?id=2254 http://www.gearjunkies.com/product_gallery.php?id=2253 http://www.gearjunkies.com/product_gallery.php?id=2270 http://www.gearjunkies.com/product_gallery.php?id=2269 even the same people who own www.access-music.de own www.virus-ti.com if its a hoax they are taking it to extreme levels :) ten |
Mmm, it does seem to be spreading like wild fire doesn't it. Well, if it is a hoax, i take my hat off to the people involved.
But.....I'll play it safe and wait for it officialy on the Access page. While I'm waiting though, anybody wanna buy a VC? hehe EDIT: Taking a look at this picture http://www.gearjunkies.com/product_gallery.php?id=2254 certainly makes it seem more real! 8O Wavetable OSCs hey!? Thinking music please..... |
Hollowcell, didn't you see the WHOIS search results I posted? virus-ti.com is owned by access-music.de. Why would they register that domain name if this whole thing was a lie?
[random] Oh, and the thread name should read "3 New Virii...." 8) [/random] -REMIDI |
I'm (as always) skeptical fo the latest synths news if it breaks in forums and spin-off sites rather than the official company sites themselves. I guess that comes from making so many hoaxes myslef. Hehehe.
So no has answered my last question - Anyone wanna buy a VC? |
I would get it on ebay quick sharp mate.....as soon as word spreads that a new virus is in town, demand for 2nd hand virus c and b will plummet and so will the price you can sell one for.
ten |
|
Yep, it's starting to look like a go.
I won't be buying one though  . Too much stuff happening. Can't wait to hear some audio clips of the thing! |
