Virus Access KC/Newby ?
Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and not a virus access user yet , but I intend on becoming one soon. I am contemplating buying the Virus access KC and was wondering 2 things: 1. How the feel of the keyboard is from a playing/performance perspective.Any other comments would also be appreciated. Unfortunately my local store does not have the kc in stock and therefore I am unable to try it out . and 2. Is anyone aware of any new model releases 2005. I read in Future music that Virus are getting set for a new model release in 2005. It was not clear from the article exactly what model this was..... but obviously if this relates to the virus c, it will impact the price, so I am not sure if I should buy now or wait for the new release...any ideas ?. thanks Aster |

Edit: And if the new release is a modular VA then it's very unlikely that it has any kind of impact on the Virus C price due the totally different nature of the synths. |
Thanks 4 the reply.
I read the previous thread regarding speculation of the release of a virus d, the thread did not finish with any specific conclusions...I saw the helicopter page on the access website...do we know what this means..... :?: Aster |

why not a va modular with wavetable oscilators saba?
wouldnt that open your mind completly? |
I guess I need to hear some wavetable sounds so I can see what all the fuss is about - where can I find some good examples?
|
find a waldorf xt :P
or download a demo of the korg wavestation vsti |

The Wavestation uses wavesequencing which is different, isn't it? I used to own the AD, so I know that sound anyhow. |
all vector\wavetable synths have wavesequencing feature i think.
the nice about wavetable is that you can never "run out of sounds" you can load waveforms of your own with a spacial wav to midi convertor at least thats what i know about the XT... saba loves the xt synth maybe he can add more about it im sure he read alot about it. |

All repeat after me:

you know too much about access not to be one  |
YOu can say that again

My plans were to get VirusD, then an 8-buss mixer, and then a laptop, in that order (I have to start from scratch saving for each item with them being, er, not so cheap! ;) ).... But it's been so long, I'm grabbing the laptop first (as soon as Intel release Centrino mk2). The mixer is a must, also, so is still second in the queue, also now to be followed by a multi-input soundcard too... So the D is relegated to last place now, so it'll take me at least a year (maybe more) to save up for it again. :| Ho hum. |
It's really hard for any of us to give you advice on whether to wait for the "Appatchi" or buy a VC now. None of us have any real idea on what you are actually waiting for, or even how long you will wait.
It depends on how desperate you are I think. |
i would say get a virus b mean while in a cheap price and wait for a virus d if you can.
otherwise just get a virus c... |
I am not in a desperate hurry,
but if ( :?: and as I am finding out this is a big unknown) some useful extra features and functionality (like many of those featured in this forum) are going to be built into the forthcoming model,,it may be worth the wait..... :? Its a big investment for me, so I am trying to ensure that I make the right decision Aster  |
well i dont think theres going to be any improvmenteds because its not going to be a fallow up for the virus c but a totaly different synth in my opinion.
why am im saying that? access promised alot more to the virus c users and still havent suplyed much... so theres still more to come in that area i think. anyway you should wait few months because it is a big invesment... |

The moral of the story, don't wait for an update or a new product that you're not aware of, or you might be waiting for a long time, and music might have moved on (well it has in the last two/three/four years, considerably!) [He says, hypocritically, while sitting waiting for Intel's sonoma/alviso laptop platform to be finally unleashed  ] |
whats that?
some kind of multimedia platform? i heard stuff about platforms made spacialy for multimedia-video and audio for very low cpu and memory use by the platform but still good driver support. |

I'm officially jealous of your valve compressor Timo (unless it's the behringer one  ). |

More info here. ;) Should've been released now in September, but in true Intel style it has been pushed back a tad (several months). Quote:

Timo,
It might not be suitable but I am selling a mixing desk - its a Soundcraft S200B delta 24 channel desk with 2 power supplies and a travel case. Its in good condition despite its age. Excellent sounding though a bargain at ?400 |
Hi Martin, is that the Soundcraft Series 200B, or the Soundcraft 200 Delta?
Was itching after an automated 8-buss, something like a second-hand Ghost24 or Allen & Heath GS3v. Gear lust, d'oh. |
Its the Series 200 B. I meant Delta as in the shape - I didn't know Soundcraft made a delta range as well.
It really does sound good but its not an Allen Heath though! |
