So if I banged another 512 chip in there is wouldnt sort it out?? :(
So any ideas on what to get to keep my load down (no dirty remarks here please  ) Baring in mind Ive got a pentium 4 - 3.06 - 512 - 120 gig hard drive using a delta 10/10 soundcard!! Anyone.... :) |
i would really like to see in a future SX a possible CPU meter on each adio chanel you work with so you can see which ones ae using what then maybe be able to work out which plug you what specific amounts of CPU etc!!

The top one is how your processor's coping - pentium / AMD or whatever.
The bottom one is how your memory (RAM) is coping. If you need to upgrade either, I would seriously consider upgrading both as they kind of work in tandem with each other. |
Thanks for the reply!!
I have a pentium 4 3.06 processer, 512 ram chip!! So what options are there for me to upgrade!! Can you get faster then 3.06? Thanks for the swift reply :D |

But it won't give much more speed (except that dual system) since there is no 64-bit version of seuquencers yet. Have you considered a DSP card instead? Like PoCo? |
I like the idea from Martyn who mentioned sumin about a hamerfalls soundcard or something like that!!
Does a good DSP card take the load off the computer? if so can some people suggest a few worth looking in to!! All im trying to do is basicly keep my CPU Down!! Cheers Juho though for your help :D |

For example TC PoCo Elements is really good card. It can run loads of compressors and other effects and it has that TC quality (including the reverbs). One PoCo can take nice amount of strain off from CPU. I just thought to insted of upgrading my computer, I'll invest in PoCo. |

For a uniprocessor system, you can get a 3.4ghz P4EE. Or you can get a single opteron processor system. However, recompilation of programs to make them 64-bit has shown decreases in 10-20% of speed. So, be wary. Just because it has double the bits doesn't translate to double the speed, nor power. ________ Tv-gossip.com |

But the truth is that there's no point in investing 32-bit system anymore. It would just get outdated fast when the 64-bit software comes. |
so how much is a pentium 4 3.4 chip around about!! :?:
But think im gonna look in to these creamwares JUHO mentioned :) Thanks for the info though lads great help :D |
the pulsar 2 is a great dsp and audio solution for a very reasonable price i think.

yes they do they by creamware cards which r processors much in the same...the thing i have heard about the cards from what ppl who use them have said is that u can still be quite limited on those cards...ie only a certain number of channels on their mixer...because u cant use any1 elses...and dont even look at VST being enhanced that wont happen...it only works for the companies software...just look into how many synths and effects u can have open at the same time...it does tend to get pretty limited for the price...and u have to buy all the addition synths and effects...you get in the bundle their basic FX and synths...All im saying is be careful b4 jumping into it...look for what u need not what u want...
