Crowd chants

Does anybody know how Scooter makes those crowd chants on their songs. Do they tell ppl on their conserts to sing along on a track that they never heard before and record it or what? Not that im planning on using crowds on my songs, im just curious.

udenjoe 04.05.2003 05:18 AM

I guess without having an unreleased song no one can chant to, try resampling the same voice. Make one voice sound like two and two sound like four, etc. Or hire some people to come over and chant outside your home.

Machinegunjoe 04.05.2003 08:26 AM

That don't work im quite sure of that too. Me and about 20 other ppl was skreaming our ass of at one of swedens biggest hits summer of 2000 called "mera m?l" by Markoolio and it sounded like c r a p, we did lots of takes too. Although we did't record all ppl at once. Maybe the room must be bigger so that you get the ambience of the room and record all ppl at once, then do lot of takes?

sX 04.05.2003 11:38 AM

Just search the internet (maybe too obvious  ).

udenjoe 05.05.2003 05:52 AM

Yea all your problems can be solved if you just searched the internet!

Manuel Schleis 05.05.2003 12:54 PM

no no no... (ts ts ts... 8khz Samples from Internet, or what?)

Try to rip Crowds from Heave Metal Live CDs
Metallica for Example.
And when you have some, send them to me, I am always searching crowd samples, too ;-)

Machinegunjoe 05.05.2003 08:46 PM

Well im not talking about just crowd noises, i meant wen like the crowds sing along on Scooters tracks, do they record that live or what?Cuz when the tracks are new, nobody could have heard them?

BTW just check KLFs album and sample the crowds that they sampled

KLF is the best band EVER :D

Muuu Muuu

udenjoe 06.05.2003 06:56 AM

Their ambient album is a trip.

void 08.05.2003 01:34 AM

not sure if this would work, but during nin's last tour, c.clouser used a sample of crowd noise and his voice with the nord micromod's vocoder, maybe you can do the same but use the virus's vocoder? the result was kinda like a whole gang of people screaming the lyrics(mainly on the song starfuckers inc.)

Cameron 27.05.2003 02:51 PM

I am trying to do this too. I tried searching the Internet for chanting tips and didn't find much. I am sure the ones that I have heard are processesed, but I don't know how. Maybe the whole vocoder idea is the way to go.

When you say search the Internet... give me some key words for searching, because I am not finding anything helpful. I am not looking for the technique to do "chanting" of original stuff.

Thx,

Cameron

TommyS 27.05.2003 10:05 PM

I`ve tried it with the nord modular and it works quite well. It`ll probally work with any other synth that has a vocoder.

All you need to do is, recreate a crowds noise using the synth or have a crowd sample on one channel, then on the other channel, use your voice or accapella, to modulate the signal of the crowd.

Once recorded you can layer them on each other.

:D

Why not just wait till u get out there and start giging to do it? why do u have to do it now, seems like to me that u r going to b waisting too much time trying to copy some1 elses idea when u could be makin some bad ass tunes...now im not degrading u here just think it will be more productive to wait on such a task....hell i bet scooter had some awesome record label engineer make it for him....

Cameron 28.05.2003 02:03 AM

Thanks for the reply. I will try it out when I get a chance. Maybe I will use the new Vocoder in Reason 2.5. I now need to find a good crowd sample.

Thx,

Cameron

I reckon so, cause if they can only come up with lyrics like:

"Respect to the man in the ice cream van"

"Tyree Cooper the producer, But now it`s Scooter, Who are supa dupa"

"Na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na na .. Everybody!!
Na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na na na .. C'mon!! Together!!
Yeeaaah!!!
How much is the fish?!!
How much is the fish?!!
Yeeaaah!!!
C'mon, c'mon!! Aaaah!
Resurrection!"

And my favourite

"It's not a bird, it's not a plane, It must be Dave who's on the train"

What chances do they have to make complex effects up themselves?

This lyric has very deep meaning. It's a cry for help from the misery of difficulties in life. The text pulsates with the sorrow and agony of the soul. The lyrical content literally flows from the heart of the writer.

Quote:

This signals the feeling of the writer when he had gotten away from tyrannic person. The sensitive scent of joy and the brightness give this piece of lyric a very strong meaning. The psychological layers are incredible and someway very selfironic.

Do not mock these lyrics!

Blank 29.05.2003 12:55 AM

Dude lyrics have nothing to do with engineering....if u had millions of dollars worth of editing and synth equipment im sure u could do those crowd chants too....the studio engineer or sound designer does is everything technical, the artist makes those lame ass lyrics and gets the lame ideas to use chipmunk voices....freakin stupid i think....

TommyS 29.05.2003 01:23 PM

I could undestand with him being so lame, if he was using the profits to fund another project, like the Tidyboys did with Jive Bunny compliation before stting up TidyTrax, but he`s not.

Also the amount of cheese that is in the Uk charts is unbelievable, their bringing out trance tunes with origanally happy hardcore vocals on them now.

The cheesier they are, the more they seem to sell tho.

Hence Scooter.

Blank 29.05.2003 09:11 PM

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Couldnt have said it better Tommy....
Looks like we need to show them what real music isb

Hey guys the "respect too the man in the ice cream van" line is scooters own tribute to KLF. You know, "Their justified and their ancient and they drive an ice cream van" it's the chorus in Justified and ancient by KLF. Scooter "always" have a KLF hint in their songs.

udenjoe 30.05.2003 06:40 AM

The KLF are one of the princes of plunderphonics.

Blank 30.05.2003 07:01 AM

are we suppose to love them for that, i really dont understand what u mean by that statement Machinegunjoe....how does that change anything about him putting cheesy lyrics in his songs?

nothing against any1 who likes him

Machinegunjoe 30.05.2003 07:25 AM

Blank 30.05.2003 07:34 AM

TommyS 30.05.2003 01:27 PM

I remember KLF from the early nineties.

They released quite a few good tracks, but scooter still have a major journey in becoming respectful.

:D

Machinegunjoe 30.05.2003 09:21 PM

KLF kicks Scooters A S S to the other side!!!

Tomer=Trance 31.05.2003 01:51 AM

scooter career is finished....
they has their good times.....
the early albums and the ratty single
i see only one option for them- leave their corrent commercial style and join the europien style thats corrently going on....

Machinegunjoe 31.05.2003 08:20 AM

Well, actually scooter is bigger than ever!!! I think thats good. I prefer Scooter in front of all those crappy poprock and rnb bands that always get hyped.

Tomer=Trance 31.05.2003 09:34 AM

yeah but when you talk about trance you cant go any lower :)

udenjoe 31.05.2003 09:48 AM

Someone should do a remix diss and make the crowds spit.

Blank 01.06.2003 12:21 AM

LOL.....Can u even imagine thousands of ppl spitting at the same time, that would sound crazy....but too bad the sample wouldnt have thousands for Scooter any more, just the five old ladies spitting out pubic hair after blowin m'....

udenjoe 01.06.2003 08:40 AM

HAHA AHAHAAHEHEHAHOAHOAHA.

Blank 01.06.2003 08:42 AM

Machinegunjoe 01.06.2003 04:22 PM

Dirty Sanchez suck compared to jackass. Atleast those guys at jackass look like their having fun.

Btw have anyone tried the vocoder thing to get the crowd to chant with you yet???

Machinegunjoe 01.06.2003 04:23 PM

I wrote S U C K!!!

TommyS 01.06.2003 05:02 PM

I have to admit, a brick has more personality than dirty sanchez all together.
