Thanks... As you can hear in the music streaming on my site, my music is very keyboard oriented. Lately, my compositions are taking on more of a Euro-Tech influence. Hence, the purchase of my Virus TI.

I guess people really are cancelling their orders due to being tired of waiting. When they called me the other day, they looked it up and now I'm #9. They're receiving 22 keyboards in their first shipment. I'd say I'm pretty certain I'll get one out of the first shipment.

Im just wandering RC....the Virus sound doesnt seem like it would fit nicely in a Christian rock/electro outfit. Are you planning on targetting the Christian industrial/metal scene???

P.S nice lookin site

i was thinking the same thing.. however, i produce ambient/new-age style stuff, and one of the things i am looking for the most is beautiful and flexible padsounds.. as i understand the virus is excellent for this purpose, and hence i think it would be suitable in most genres of music. for industrial style tracks the virus might be exceptionally good, but i hope its also good enough for just about any genre if used correctly.

am i right or way off?

The Virus does nice pads.....we all know this. However, personally I prefer the pad sounds that come out of a Korg Wavestation and Roland JD800.

The JD800 is especially great at ambient stuff:

Ambient pad

Ambient Strings

Hell.....if its good enough for JMJ and Vangelis then its good enough for you!

The Wavetable oscillators add an entirely new dimension to the Virus' pad-making abilities - and at the risk of sounding like a stuck record, the fact you can blend them with Hypersaws as well means you can achieve some really lovely textures that are both very digital/cold and fuzzy/warm all at the same time 8)

As mentioned.... The Virus TI is (or will be :) ) great for all genres. I've heard plenty of Virus examples. It's far more then industrial/metal.

Thanks for your comments on my site. I just finished updating it. Seems I can never leave it alone.

Yep, I've been looking for a JD990 for ages now. One day I'll find a good one.

Now back to the "I want my bug ridden TI" show.....

By the way, I'll sell you my VC for 200,000yen if the wait gets too much fellas. :D

Na, it would be a fair while before I'd lay down the cash on a TI. It would need to have a few more key features and zero bugs before I'd even consider it.

Honeslty, a few other things have caught my eye over here.
Japan - The land of the rising sun and cheap older gear.

That's a nice price for sure! They sell for around the same here at the moment. I've seen them go for as cheap as about $175us (but that's a pretty rough looking one though).

If I managed to sell the VC for 200,000yen, I'd probably go for an MS20, DBX160 and some sort stomp box like a mesaboogie V-twin or something. With the money left over I'd think about another VA - maybe an ION or MS2000.

Ahhhh, gear lust..... :D

How much does a MS20 in a good condition cost now? From what I heard the filters are very harsh and biting with resonance. Very sexy looking synth though :D

Hollowcell 15.03.2005 11:34 PM

In good condition they go for about 60,000 to 70,000 yen. :D

Nigel Harkness 18.03.2005 06:13 PM

I know that at this point this shouldn't bother me but I just recieved a call from Sweetwater (where I bought my TI), they are not expecting the TI to arrive stateside until April 27th! Man oh man this thing better do all it is supposed to as well as my dishes.

F5D 18.03.2005 06:26 PM

Gets very expensive if a company doesn't sell any products for a 1/2 year. I hope a Waldorf will not happen to Access.

Not owning any Waldorf products and not knowing... what happened to Waldorf?

They went bankrupt. I don't know the reason why but I guess people were buying other products like access and novation more than waldorf. Maybe Waldorf couldn't sell their products at lower prices (however microQ was reasonably priced sometimes) and their new products were very highly priced such as the Q+ (euro 4000), AFB analog filter bank (euro 2500) etc. and maybe people didn't like the thin waldorf sound as much as the other fatter sounding synths. Waldorf should have continued to produce the Pulse or even bring a Pulse keyboard out or something. That would have been supercool! I own a Pulse and it still is one of the fattest sounding boxes I have ever owned. It will definitely never leave my rack.

In fact I am going to buy a Waldorf MicroQ tomorrow to extend the sound palette of my rack. I like waldorf sound too but I wouldn't buy a Waldorf if it was going to be my only synth. I have had already 2 microQ's before. This time I'll try harder to be able to keep this one. It has some great sounds and the filter is good.

Hate to state the bleeding obvious......but the Access website is still saying 'available from march'

Ok, so whats with all this speculation?

I've thought the same thing. They're obviously editing the website. They added the DEMO that we're all listening to. You'd think that they would modify that date if they were really changing it. Yet, on the bottom of the main TI page, it still states December too. :D

DIGITAL SCREAMS 19.03.2005 01:28 PM

Oh yeah.....ive just seen the 'expected tyo ship in December 2004' disclaimer....

hehehe......oh well!

A wise choice my friend, with Waldorf being out of business you can pick them up dirt cheap and they're still wicked synths. People say they're harder to use than the Virus and that they can't get the sound they want out of them and I am convinced it is an operating system thing - make sure you get one with the latest operating system as the OS updates really were major bug fixes / operating glitches, not just minor improvements.

Hi all,

Just had an email from someone high up at Access and they've told me the Ti will be shipping in the next few weeks.

DS

bj2001 22.03.2005 02:29 PM

few weeks

ten 22.03.2005 02:30 PM

Marc is high up at Access, he said it would be shipping in a few weeks in December :)

ten

MADSTATION 22.03.2005 02:37 PM

What's wrong with a few more weeks? I mean...if this is what it takes, then it is what it takes :)

I'm just wondering if there will be 2 stereo submix or 3 already available...3 would rock :) But 2 is fine I guess :)

ten 22.03.2005 03:02 PM

A few more weeks would be fine, if in fact IT IS a few more weeks. Its been a few more weeks since December, which has turned into a few months and now nearly half a year late. I dont mind the waiting for whatever reason I just wish they would pick a date and stick to it.

Hey DS, I think there's something wrong with your computer. I keeps sending the same posts over and over again. Maybe it's a cut an paste issue, or something. This is definitely a duplicate post.

u4ia 22.03.2005 06:00 PM

I thought I could wait this out, a month or two didn't seem like a long time to wait without having a keyboard (back in november :)).

But this has really stretched out and I am starting to get desparate. I was so close the other day to cancelling my TI order at NovaMusik and getting a novation x-station instead. I am hanging in there but every passing week gets a little bit harder....

Actually the x-station does look like a nice little controller, but for some reason I have been brain washed into thinking I must have a Virus and nothign else will do :)
