well i have a few new additions on the way
just for a laugh i thought i would give everyone a link to 'an artists impression' of what everyhting will look like WHEN IT FINALLY GETS HERE  click here to see just how insanely bored i am (couple of things to add - no, i wont have my pc tower on my desk; i havent decided on my soundcard yet but the latest esi looks nice for the pic; yes there is a piece of behringer equipment in there but no audio signal will pass through it.... ) pc will be on its way as soon as i sell this damn mac (sorry jasedee), and the virus will get here when access makes an OS for it [/url] |

Also, check out the RME Fireface 800, the specs for the AD DA and preamps are more than respectable. |
ive had my eye on the rme for a while... just whether or not i can get the $$$ together for it
there are a few still in the running: motu 828, presonus firestation, edirol fa-101 - but i know if i buy any of these units i will be comprimising converter quality  i want the bcf2000 as dedicated mixer control, and i dont intend freeing up controllers on the TI to do so - they will be busy already  |
I hear very good things about RME stuff.......
Jasons words of wisdom: Choose your equipment wisely, make sure you only buy what you need, and dont compromise. Cheap gear will give you cheap results, and will end up costing you more..... eg: You want a Virus cos they are the best, you dont want no stinkin Casio right? Take this attitude and apply to the rest of your studio. Obviously, the 'best' is far from reach for most of us, but there is some decent quality gear out there that doesnt cost an arm/leg, BUT, there is HEAPS of crap out there. try to avoid it! |

when it comes to soundcard/interface the main contenders for me at the moment are the RME 800 fireface and the motu 828mk2. they are the only two with consistently good reviews in the price range i will be looking to buy in. i can currently get an 828 from the states for under $1000aud, so at the moment im finding it hard to justify spending twice that amount to get the RME... but see how i go. (and how many shares i sell between now and then  ) basically my requirements are an interface that has enough inputs to satisfy the virus - both s/pdif and trs (and possibly more synths to be added later  , in the mean time the extra ins would be satisfying my flatmates kb). i also would like something with some nice phantom powered xlrs to hook up my nt3 (and the nt5's that my flatmate is getting soon). i want the card to be capable of 192k sampling (purely cause the virus can), and if possible it would be nice to have metering on the front of the thing. i dont care if the unit doesnt operate in standalone mode - it will only ever be hooked up to my pc in my studio (well in the foreseeable future anyway). now that access has moved into the whole soundcard/interface arena, perhaps they could identify the need in the market for a sound card to match the TI (i dont intend sending everything through my virus and over usb). anyways, some more research needs to be done! ill make my decision soon, so any companies with possible new releases should speak now, or forever hold their peace! |
i got some new studio pics with the new bx8 monitors
where can i place them so you guys can take a look? |
you need to upload the pics on to a server (your web host), then reference the location of the pics on the server within your message using url tags (click twice on the url button above the reply box, and place the url within the tags - as described in the html description line)
you can get free web hosting from a number of places ive got dodgy hosting through netscape mywebpage (20mb hosting for free) - do a google search on 'mywebpage' and you should find it soon enough. cerat an account - login with oyur password when you get it - go to upload files - self explanatory from there..... just make sure after you have uploaded the pic that you click on the link within your index page and copy the exact url for inclusion in your message. and if you still have no luck pm me and ill host it in my server space  |

Blay....I thought the 828 was only 96k??? I have the MOTU 2408mkIII and find it great! I wouldnt want to rely on firewire, I prefer to have a PCI style soundcard with breakout box.....But, I reckon the 828 would be a pretty damn good option. You may need a little mixer (Mackie 1202VLZ) so you can monitor your synths, as well as your main mix from computer |
