I just called Mike Carrolll. He told me they hope it will be released in March but it will effectly (I think he means surely...) be out in April!
They?re working hard on the last beta-tests. Hmmm... I?m wondering if I should cancel my preorder. Maybe I?ll stop by at Access - they?re just a city away from me - and have a little chat with them.... ;-) Regards MarcTale |
Don't let the April 29th availability date that some retailers are posting, fool ya. It's still being shipped early March, yet the March shipment is sold out. So the second shipment is April 29th. They can't advertise the availability date in March if they're sold out.
|
EnjoyRC...How can you be so sure? ;)
|
I have a good friend that works at Sweetwater. We discussed in depth the normal marketing practices of these online retailers. And the fact that just recently, via email, Access verified that they're still on track with shipping them within the first couple of weeks of March ... uh er um... 2005. :) (had to add the year)
|
All BS and Speculation.
I have several emails from access saying 'Yes, we are still on schedule for the December shipping date Dont believe ANYTHING especially from a disties who knows jack shit. Ive been quoted about 100 different dates from Turnkey (official UK supplier of access products) and a whole load of other disties. NO ONE KNOWS OR WILL KNOW TILL IT ACTUALLY SAYS 'VIRUS-TI SHIPPING' ON THE ACCESS WEBSITE.... or marc/ben say so here :) ten |
I will be so glad when I can end this post that I started by saying "I just recieved my Virus TI desktop and it is sick". I will be so glad!
|
Well, I got bored tonight before work and figured the day the Virus should be shipping according to the "45 days" announced in the NAMM video.
As of now, 38 days have passed since 23 Jan (the end of the NAMM show). So that means the virus should be shipping a week from today. Does anybody actually think Access is on track? Or do you think it will be shipping in a week? Hmmmmmm. . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
I was wondering the same. Again all the dates on those website making me paranoid too, It will be nice if access release TI within next week. What is the problem concerning the delay? Implementing the AU or making more wavetables? :?

latest rumor I've heard from a shop down here:
Europe release date is on track, north america is gonna be delayed for quite a while. Dunno if its gonna be true, but we will see :) |
What could possibly delay the release for North America?
Oh boy if this is so my blood pressure is going to start to rise! |
Patriot Act man ! They apparently found some tiny people hidding in the cases of the TI, trying to enter America.

I was playing around for a couple of hours on a Nord 2X. Well im buying one at the weekend and gonna wait until end of summer before I pick up a Virus Ti. id like to see a few runs roll of the production line before I invest.

Will also give a chance to see what Clavia next product is at MusikMesse on April 2. You know if the production would have been on time, this probably wouldnt have happened. But, that is life. . . . . . . . . DS, How was the nord? Programming heaven b/c everything is laid out in front of you? What made you decide to get that? |
My interest in the N2 started back in summer 2000. I went into a music shop and had a play around on some keyboards......well the N2 was the first synth I ever touched/heard in the flesh. Since then Ive always wanted to get one. The truth is...im a little sick of waiting for synths to be released....and right now i have very itchy fingers. The Virus TI will be a nice synth sure......but I feel uneasy buying into the first couple of batches.
The N2X is a very nice synth. I like it for a number of reasons. Firstly, in my opinion it has the most satisfying unprocessed sound of any VA....and second....its quite a simple synth. Dont get me wrong....its very powerful in a versatile sense......but the truth is....sometimes when a synth is bristling with 101 features it becomes a headfuck. With the N2 you can make very good, useable sounds within a minute or two. With the Virus it def takes longer.....partly because your always tweaking the 101 available paramters lol. Right now, I just need a versatile, simple polyphonic synth. As I say...the Virus Ti will be an end of summer purchase (by which time any problems will hopefully have been identified). Best of both worlds. DS |
When all you fockers get it, be sure to post some mp3's. can't wait to hear what i actually sounds like with some patch programming time put into it. <----- This better be done on the day it arrives at your doorstep too. Don't forget about us wanks who got tired of waiting.
|
well i am one of the few that choose to remain in TI purgatory....
the access marketing engine has consumed me and i am waiting patiently to pay my $$$ to keep the access snowball rolling. regardless of all the downfalls many have already identified on this board, the TI will certainly be one beast of a VA. only problem is, i'm not sure i really care anymore..... ...DS will remember that when i first joined this board I had sold shares with the intention to purchase a nord lead 3 - and that very night access posted the initial press releases for the TI range and basically RUINED MY LIFE. couldve had a lead 3 literally months ago - instead i continue to chase the carrot on a stick that is the TI.... i really have given up. i keep hearing all sorts of info regarding the release but i let it all go over my head. yes, these are the words of one defeated moderator. cmon access - throw a dog a bone.... please, no later than april!!!! |
Damn Blay, and you were one of the most positive at the beginning, telling me to stop giving access a hard time and let them sort it out ;) How the mightly have fallen

...im taking my bat and ball and im going home
 |
Is there any reason NOT to assume that the TI line will ship this week or next? Most statements about more delays (April...etc...) seem to be guesses, not statements from Access. The Access website and an email that I recently received from them, still state March 2005. The email stated in the first two weeks of March.
I'm still hopeful. I'm sticking by my prepayment and waiting for it. Why not wait? What else is there? |
There is plenty of reason not to assume they will make this new release date. The main one that springs to mind is I have several emails from access saying things like 'The virus-TI range will be shipping worldwide from December' and 'We are expecting to ship the virus-TI in early January.' Which, of course have all gone to shit. And when you ask why you never get a straight answer.
The thing that worries me most is the lack of communication. It would be nice if they would just say 'ok, we are having problems with the software and its going to take a few more weeks' or whatever, but they just keep us in the fucking dark and have done pretty much since November. Only Ben has said anything who doesnt even work officially for access at the NAMM show, and even that looks like its going to fall through. I will hold out for the TI because I want one badly. I love the virus sound, but I dont want a C and ive already had the limited virus powercore. I want the TI software, I want the extended amount of polyphony and I want the hypersaw. So no matter how long it takes I will wait (unless its a piss take wait) but Access's once prestine customer quality and service has been SERIOUSLY damaged by this shambles of a product launch, and the sad thing is they dont seem to give a flying fuck. ten |
Response from Access (Mar-04-2005)
My Email Questions:
> 1. Are you still shipping the entire Virus TI line this week or next? > 2. Is there a delay for USA shipments? > 3. Are you shipping Desktops first then Keyboard & Polar later? Their response: Quote:
|
So, as expected... none of you're three questions were answered.
ten |
They are very good at being avasive at answering questions, do you think they took a class for this or something?
|
I've a bottle of champagne waiting for the TI.
"In a few weeks...", "we are still beta testing", "we want to deliver a solid product"...soon.... |

The shipping really wont be that much longer now.....im really looking forward to it. Its worth the wait......
I didnt pre-order though....so im not sure when the 2nd or 3rd shipping will arrive.....maybe 4 weeks after the first one? Im not sure how frequent shippings are..... DS |
Quote:
They know how many pre-orders they've had, so I bet they've matched that number with actual physical TIs made in the factory by now. |
I see your glass is half full... eh?

nobody knows nuffin... but at least my unit in the first shipment is secured  |
The retailer where I purchased my TI Keyboard is receiving 18 keyboard units in their first shipment. I don't know how many Desktops & Polars. I was number 14.
Waiting patiently... well, uh, er, um.... not really... I find myself searching the web everyday to see if anyone heard of any new shipping news. |
