I am starting to wonder two things : either there is a major flaud in the new virus TI or it's so f***ing good that they just want to blow people away at namm. But It's true they should make some public announcement soon, "cause I am starting to consider buying something else instead. We are not talKing $200 equipment here ....c'mon ACCess, speak up, we are not industrial spyes...we are paying customers !!!

No matter how you turn it, that's what they are waiting for. Namm is more important than us ....sad but true....

I have been waiting for Reason 3.0 as well since November, they did post mp3 tough (much needed since Reason sounds phatter now and creating complex modular patches will be a breeze ).

i agree with blay and soundsetcetc. i respect any company that wants to insure that when shipped, its a top notch working product. but announcing release in december, then basically going underground for two/three months with no feedback to those who allready ordered it, thats disrespectful. regardless of how you see it.

I believe it was late dec that marc (? I think?) stated they had entered beta testing. Beta testing can mean a lot of different things depending on the company, but I'd be surprised if there are many developers with a beta cycle less than a month, and I suspect 2 or 2.5 is more common.

Access has years of experience developing hardware synths, but this product is something new -- developing for windows requires a whole new set of skills and a lot more testing, since it's such a heterogenous environment. It's understandable that they would have a harder time predicting how long it's going to take. Of course I don't know any of the details, but if they're like a typical software house they'll probably feel like they're shipping 'any day now' for the last month or two of development, and wouldn't it get annoying to here 'tomorrow' for weeks on end?

Eh, look at me, totally windows-centric. They're doing mac, too, so two new large skills plus two products that have to be released simultaneously.

blay 13.01.2005 02:04 PM

yep dont forget us poor old mac plebs

MADSTATION 13.01.2005 02:05 PM

Yeah that's what I'm kinda afraid of.
They rock in the hardware market, but I just hope the vst interface will be just as good and most importantly, STABLE(with automations, every host, etc.)

time will tell!

im sure stability is on the forefront of access' mind at the moment.
one workplace im glad im not responsible for at the current time.

scr 13.01.2005 02:41 PM

Have you ever thought that Access could have financial problems ?
No news, no update ?
I hope Access won't die like Waldorf.
I don't think but.......... Who knows ?

scr 13.01.2005 03:17 PM

blay 13.01.2005 03:20 PM

im actually seeling my powerbook soon and buying a desktop pc cause i cant afford the mac upgrade - the TI burnt a hole right through my pocket :(

SoundzplastikSurgeon 13.01.2005 03:38 PM

Never had a problem with PC, just build your own.

Hey Nigel, what kind of music do you compose ? I live around Boston, maybe with we can collab on something some day, with the northestearn flair...winter sucks around here.

the fact that i can build my own is the exact reason im returning to pc.

but nevertheless... i f$%&ing HATE windows

SoundzplastikSurgeon 13.01.2005 03:49 PM

yeah, windows is caca. But with a little tweaking you can get the OS to behave. If you are just running applications it's ok !

I'm getting cold feet to be honest. I put a ?120 deposit down on one in Dec and I spoke to a manager at Turnkey today who said in instances like these he would be prepared to return the deposit. Although he did say he is expecting a first batch in on Jan 20th, he said this could change. The thing is, I've got projects on the go and I can't afford to hang about.

blay 13.01.2005 03:53 PM

I will miss the stability of osx.

but im keen to buy into the 64bit technology, and i just couldnt afford that buying mac...

scr 13.01.2005 04:04 PM

i havenever had any pbo with win Xp.

Everybody say that Xp isn't stable.
Most of the time The softs are instable And everybody tells that Windows Sucks.

Ok windows has some bugs but mac Os too and maybe more.
I ve been working on both Mac and PC platform and i really can't tell that Mac is more efficient adn stable, than windows.

I am a mac plebe also. Have you seen the new mini mac. That could be an option. $499 for a 1.25GHZ G4. All you need is any old monitor and keyboard/mouse. It is mac trying to make an entry into the lower end desktop market.
macmini

BTW, NAMM is a week from today. Sit tight it is only 7 more days until we SHOULD know something. If not, then make your decesion on whether to stay or go.

blay 13.01.2005 04:11 PM

yeah but they are still just a g4.
I would stay with mac if i could afford one of the g5's - esp a dual processor model - and maybe one of the new 30inch displays 8O

... and yeah i think we will hear something around namm time - i just hope its not 'shipping in june'...

SoundzplastikSurgeon 13.01.2005 04:13 PM

I'll give them until mid february, after that, Clavia here I come.

SoundzplastikSurgeon 13.01.2005 04:20 PM

Same here. This thing looks amazing. Have you gone to the korg oasys soundcard site and listen to some of the mp3's. Awesome for a PCI card. I'll have a decesion to make since I bought the TI locally and they take returns back.
Just realizing, I talk alot of smack. I wont be able to afford a $7K synth. Oh well, it maybe the G2 then.

yeah check my signature...

MADSTATION 13.01.2005 04:59 PM

hahaha you guys are hilarious :D :D

Personally I don't care if it's released in jan/feb/march...What I care personally is some updates from Access! More info about the thing most of us preordered, etc.

I can wait a bit more for a really polished product, but can't wait much longer for some news!

this is my exact headspace.
shall we make an order?
how about:
10 hypersaw mp3s
10 wavetable mp3s
and perhaps a manual?
(ok im getting greedy)

u4ia 13.01.2005 05:42 PM

Likewise, I would feel much better about things if they came out and said they needed till March to make sure things were solid; not having any news is kind of scary. Maybe they should call it "Total Illusion", or "Totally Invisible".

On a side note, is anybody from this forum going to NAMM? They could be one of the first to see/hear/touch the new TIs. Then they can report back that they do exist! :D

MADSTATION 13.01.2005 06:33 PM

u4ia: A friend of mine has a meeting scheduled with some guys @ Access during NAMM. If the thing is that good, he is going to buy quite a few for his store. He will give me a full report as well so I will post his impressions as soon as I get them. He currently owns an INDIGO 2 and wondering if the TI is really worth the upgrade.

SoundzplastikSurgeon 13.01.2005 06:45 PM

wait a second Namm on 1/13/2005 ? Isn't Namm on the 20th ?

SoundzplastikSurgeon 13.01.2005 06:49 PM

Ooops, nevermind. Today is the 13th, damn I don't even know what day it is anymore ...

MADSTATION 13.01.2005 06:50 PM

SoundzplastikSurgeon: thats the date of the update...
NAMM is indeed on the 20th

MarcTale 13.01.2005 06:53 PM

Maybe he could record some sounds from it.
I did that some years ago at the Musik-Messe in Frankfurt with the Nordlead 3.

BTW : We should all write to Access that we won?t buy the TI if they don?t post a release date soon.
I talked to one on the phone some days ago and he tould me he couldn?t tell a date because the don?t even know that on their own.
Even the NAMM version could NOT be the Version that will be released.

Another thing : Did you all read the Interwiev with Marc Schlaille. There was one in the german Keys Magazine. If you like I could translate (as far as I can) it and post it here.

Some interesting information about the next OS and so...

Regards

Marc
