I have plenty of space for the db. But if the db runs slow even after being optimized then you really need to prune the forum, but this is only if it gets extremely large. Im intending in keeping all the posts from the current forum. Lets hope the import script works well. :D

DIGITAL SCREAMS 05.05.2005 09:16 PM

Ok, if pruning needs to occur....can we make sure we keep all of DS's posts....as they are highly beneficial to the community

DS

Thanks TommyS!

ledge 09.05.2005 09:36 PM

Nice one TommyS.

And, yeah the oviar skin looks to be the most suitable and least painful on the eyes.

Gopal 09.05.2005 10:15 PM

Thanks alot TommyS, this forum is alot of fun to hang out in and I wouldn't want to see it get over-run by f-wits.

You have been very generous and the new features will be awesome.

I mean, we could all like put our Virus patches an audio stream and leave it on repeat. That wouldn't drive anyone crazy at all

But seriously, much gratitude to TommyS 8)

TommyS 10.05.2005 06:44 PM

What do people think of having a java IRC applet for a chat room on the site?

Do you think this would stop people from posting on the forum or not?

btw. i`m still waiting to hear from sunesha, so nothing is confirmed about the site change.

Juho L 10.05.2005 06:50 PM

IRC... Not bad idea at all...

tranzash 10.05.2005 11:41 PM

Thanks TommyS for the support
Again special hails and salutes for sunesha for this great forum. Thank you :)

baldo 11.05.2005 07:31 PM

thx to tommys for the generous offer.

what will happen to audiosluts?

Smag 13.05.2005 09:37 PM

I really hope this board keeps going, it's a fantastic knowledge base and home to some wonderful, colourful characters.

Someone, please take care of it, I don't have the time or resources but wish I could.

Timo 13.05.2005 10:09 PM

This board is very different from others, it's small but perfectly formed. Everyone is warmly welcomed, and literally everyone knows everyone else - there are some utterly fantastic characters here - and it's a proper little lively community of its own.

The VirusTI merger idea was a nice one, but there was perhaps the possibility of the moderation thwarting the dynamicism of the off-topicness. - This place needs to remain independant and completely free from an agenda, otherwise it would be like taking out the backbone. Juho and the gang thrive with having the space to play havoc and joke, and this place would be utterly destroyed without it. The OT-ness plays a huge part. It's ironic that although there are no restrictions, no-one actually really needs moderating here! It's all in good fun, and everyone joins in. It's a very fun place. There are many great people that contribute, and all are held in great respect.

Cheers Tommy. If you need any donations say the word, and we'll all chip in!

And the biggest thanks to Sunesha, for starting the resource and for taking care of the forum for so long. We wish you the best in any new avenues in life you wish to go! Make sure you pop in every now and then.

I think it'd be true to say that owning a Virus wouldn't be half as sweet without this place.

Merlot 13.05.2005 10:57 PM

Timo I could not have said it better. Excellent analysis!

wavesinspace 02.06.2005 08:05 PM

hey hey

whats up guys,

I've been a virus user for years and it would be an honor to host this board... My name is paul, Ive owned an indigo when it first came out, then a c, and also the indigo tdm plug in for a while... I must have taken my virus c apart a number of times. -> the last time to give it usb support by installing an emagic 6|2m inside the case so I only have to plug in a usb cable and a power cable and its good to go...

anyway, the virus roks and it is amazing the sonic soundscapes you can make with this machine.

I am a linux admin / debian guru.. and have no problems transfering mysql tables along with your modded php scrips over to one of my servers.

anyways, just so happens Ive got 2 dual xeon pizzabox servers not being used and two cabinets each with 100mbit unsaturated connectections (1 at equinix chicago thru peer 1) and one at rcn colo chicago (thru rcn)...

I own the domain z3.net and I am building a network of entertainment / music making boards and it would be an absolute honor to host this site...

maybe we can make the subdomain

virus.z3.net so the board is simple to get to...

if u want to take a look at what type of speed connection I am hooked into, feel free to download this 30mb garbage file

http://z3.net/test30mb.tst

let me know your needs / concerns contact me at:

paul@z3.net

also I started the virus forum on tribe.net (which gets so very little activity its sad.)

wavesinspace 02.06.2005 08:11 PM

holy crap, do you think u got enouh jupiter-8's DIGITAL SCREAMS?

harrystainer 02.06.2005 08:15 PM

wavesinspace you sound like a clever dude - installing USB soundcard into a virus thats pretty neat. As for hosting I'm sure you would do a grand job

Thats an extemely generous offer there mate....But I think Sunesha and TommyS have some sort of deal going on.

It is nice to have the options though!

Whatever happens, and whomever takes over this board, I just hope it remains the same friendly, uncensored, and informative (and fun!) place that it is.

wavesinspace 03.06.2005 04:33 PM

Is there a reason to switch away from phpBB?

TommyS 03.06.2005 05:33 PM

I`ve not been contacted by sunesha yet. Im happy with whatever decision he makes.

:D

DIGITAL SCREAMS 29.06.2005 07:41 AM

DS

blay 29.06.2005 08:00 AM

Hollowcell 29.06.2005 08:17 AM

Do you still need a place to host ?
I work in ISP and my boss is a great fan of electronic music.
I guess i could talk 2 him .....

Timo 07.10.2005 08:26 PM

Sunesha seems to have gone awol...

DIGITAL SCREAMS 07.10.2005 09:06 PM

Guys...its really nice that you've offered to host this great forum. For the time being...it looks like our current hosts have indeed gone awol  ....but they appear to still be hosting! YAY!

If circumstances change then we'll hear about it in this thread. Once again...on behalf of the 1000+ members here...thx for support.
