I understand that it's going to be in 2011...

.

Sort of like when Apple said no USB, because Firewire is better.

Now iPods have only USB! lol

Access! use Light Peak and you can have 64 channels of audio.

Google it and read.

Light peak will be more for hard drives and such due to the fact that it suffers from distance limitations.

USB3 won't be fully supported by intel until either next year or even 2012 so if access announce anything new at NAMM it won't support those technologies.

Firewire while it's not the most popular it's still the most proven way of streaming more channels of audio externally than usb 1 & 2.

I would love for Access to annouce they fully support USB 2.0 capable speeds at NAMM 2011. Yes I said TWO POINT O.

Is it going to happen? No. They are coasting on their reputation at this point, kind of like BMW does for auto manufacturing. They do not see the perfect storm building behind them, and the repurcussions of not keeping up with technology.

Even though USB2 was already established the TI1 and TI2 used both USB1.1.
Next will be USB2.0.
And I´m very sure they won´t use USB3 or even Light Peak as long as
it´s not as established as USB2.0 is right now because they wouldn´t sell as
much (let´s just say) TI3´s as they´d like to.
A lot of people wouldn´t switch becaus of a TI3.
So in the end it´s money.
I think I´d be satisfied with 24 virtual Stereo Outs (48 real Mono!!) or maybe
even only 16 virtual Stereo Outa(32 REAL Mono!). That should do it.

The TI|1, TI|2 and Snow use USB 2.0 Full-Speed chipset, which is back compatible with USB 1.1. For more info, see quote:

The TI uses the 'Full Speed' USB v2.0 hardware chipset at 12 Mbit/s, which is incidently the fastest that USB v1.1 can achieve. Hence the confusion.

I think next would still be USB2.0, but using the High Speed (480Mbit/s) chipset instead of the current Full Speed (12Mbit/s) hardware chipset.

High Speed USB 2.0 is comparable to Firewire 400. I'm led to believe that in the early days High Speed USB 2.0 didn't have sufficiently great 'off-the-shelf' software packages for people to employ and develop, so Full Speed was chosen by Access. I could be wrong, but at least that's what I think transpired. Of course Access could have held back High-Speed on the TI as a business decision too - to create a selling point for the next iteration (successor). Full Speed was perfectly adequate for what they needed for the TI|1/2.

Agreed. USB 2.0 high-speed is well established and would provide exactly what is needed (greater bandwidth and speed) over the current USB2.0 Full Speed that the TIs use. USB 2 is so well established it would maximise Access' consumer base.

haha. Way to go to get search engine optimisation early. Very shrewd. A bit bad though, it allows you to add one to the cart for $989.00 and it takes you through to the checkout.

when's the earliest you think there's gonna be some news on a new Virus?

Roby31 30.11.2010 07:26 AM

I hope it's not before the end of 2011 but who knows apart from Access and their manufacturing? The current TI line still has something to say and from a user point of view I'd rather see that coming than a newer product that I'll most obviously not have enough money to get :p

Apple comes in the mid of 2011 with the first generation of macbooks, iphones, ipods and imacs. who use the light peak technology.

The light peak is two times faster the usb3 and have a much bigger bandwith. Nice thing when you have a big flow of data between more hardware devices, less problems with sync and no ground loops anymore.

A new Virus generation with light peak who send/recieve data and sound. This would be very impressive.
