guuuuuuuuys! today they posted a very exciting picture on facebook of their new baby... so there WILL be a new incarnation :) beautiful 'redback' version of the Ti2 Polar and they call it 'Dark Star' :D
now it's official: http://virus.info/page/render/lang/e...l_Edition.html aaand: "but don't you guys worry, this is not the only thing we have for NAMM ..." cheers |
is it just me that thinks these colour swaps are a bit silly ?
I can't say I'm excited, it is after all just a synth, so who really gives a toss what colour scheme they use? We want more synth functions and more sound shaping options, not more purdy colours. |

cheers, marc |
actually, I really wanted to see a white keyboard (my signature had been created much much earlier than the actual model came out)or this black polar... but why are they limited editions? ... OK, I know when people are thinking about buying a Virus a new and exciting color scheme will make them hurry to the shop, but come on... it's not that cheap you wanna/gonna buy many from different colors, so a constant palette of different colors of each model would be nice.... in fact, I'm planning to buy a white keyboard one day but still don't have the money, so I'll only be able to buy a used one?
|
The 61-key whiteout was the definitive perfect aesthetic, imho!! Nice wooden cheeks on each end too, rather than under the keybed on the Polar.
I seriously need to upgrade my Indigo. Quote:
Sorry, you do not have permission to watch this private video" I regged up on Vimeo especially too. :| Marc, it might be just me, but I can see you're really excited about something for NAMM...? |

I'm just saying that making a limited "black" edition run of a synth, which was originally black in the first place, isn't a blow my socks off moment for me. I've had 3 hardware virus synths now and all of 'em have been black. Though if it sells you more gear , then good luck with it! :) and your linky no worky |
Well, we at least know we can look forward to an semi major OS update soon. 4.5 it is... I predict a compressor/limiter being implemented! What other vintage FX could be added that could not be achieved already?
|
here's a new link, which hopefully will serve better: http://vimeo.com/18603358
as for your comment, we like making limit editions and so it seems, our users do like as well. of course, everybody has his own preference in style - so don't worry, there are always the classic options: for instance Polar White. and yes, i'm excited - it's NAMM time and new things will be released! and personally as well, the snow just melted here and it's grim outside. i'm off to california in a couple of hours, can't be that bad :) marc |
My ploy to tease more info worked.
Movie 1... Juno chorus. :O Air Chorus sounds like it will be really useful for subtle modulation. Digging Ben's Hammond skillz! The new FX sound really versatile. Happy infekted New Year, and have fun in California/NAMM. :) |

I hope they add a compressor or some form of 'vintage channel strip' at some point. |
a new vocoder would have been great too, with near-talkbox effects for example.

Was at the NAMM show today and got to see another exciting new product called the profiling amplifier. Unbelievable character match to an actual amp. I watched as they took a real Mesa Boogie amp/cab and set the Profiling Amplifier to model it (took a couple minutes). Then they A/B the sound while a guy was playing guitar in real-time. It was literally mind blowing.
I attached a pic of the profiling amp, but if you want to see all the NAMM pictures from today, visit our Facebook page. |
the facebook page says new sources have been added, anyone got more info...?

Thanks for the vid.
Personally I was like some others and hoping for somthing like added envelopes on top of the filter envelope and amp envelope, which isnt excactly a necessity, but I have noticed some times when it would be useful although I know there is ways around it. But apart from that, I am very excited about the new chorus additions !!! The sounds in the demo vids are very nice indeed and can see why they was added....would like to know how to make those patches as well especially the organ type one. |

To be honest I dont think I have looked through all of the presets I have on there and especially dont think I have ever really looked for or needed an organ patch, but I like how this one sounds and would be useful for when I .....erm...hmmm....am playing in church or somthing.:p |

last day of NAMM, hopefully SonicState posts some coverage, at last...
|
Marc did effectively say they have something else up their sleeves, and if can read between the lines he seemed quite excited.
So far, the only vid I've seen was Ben demonstrating the already announced new chorus types and mentioning a few extra mod matrix slots. |
here we go:
http://www.sonicstate.com/news/2011/...-45-higlights/ hilarious ending :D (if you know where '45 days' comes from ;)) |
Wtf's up with those cookies! lol. You can hear Ben chuckle a little as the second one was placed down.
Ben forever the professional, trying to stay focussed. Fun demo. I reckon OS v4.5 will round out the TI|2 series. TI|3 will be next year! |
Still hoping for another year's worth of features :P
|
the question is, did he eat the cookies while made the demo and we did not see anything ? if yes, so professional ..... ;-)))))
