Nice setup k-rite. I see that you have a VM-3100 mixer. I see you are a proud owner a a NL II. Well, in the next months I'm going to buy a G2 or a TC Powercore Firewire module. Right now, I don't know what to buy so time will find out.
I'll try to finish my small studio and post some pics later. Greetz |

Yeah I don't use my NL2 as much as I want to. I always find my hands going for the Virus. :D |
Here it is!
my "bed room studio" and belive me it doesnt get more bedroom then this... http://www.pic.co.il/Files/E693C66CE...E55A68BC6F.JPG |
say k-rite what do you think about the behringer truths?
|
Hey Tomer,
It's great to see where you are working on tunes! How about posting some of you music soon then - please? |
yeah why not
as soon as i'l finish working on some corrent stuff i wont post some demos |
Great Tomer! I'm looking forward to hearing something.
|
Well, here's a little something that's just getting started, you can see parts of my studio throughout....
the audio clip is really old, it's just the only thing I have that fits the current video length. expect the audio to get much more serene....and then a lot rougher. http://home.comcast.net/~suckstar/studioclip1.mov |
Seems we have a budding film maker amongst our ranks here at "Planet Virus".
Nice work there mate. very atmospheric and spooky. I would love to be able to work out video editing, but with work and school, I barely have enough time to write music, let alone start scoring films! Cool stuff! |
Ill let u drool over a my mint Jupiter 8. Paid ?1900 for the privilage from an analog synth dealer.
Photo taken at friends house. Pictures of Virus KC and Prophet 5 together coming soon, pro-one, mono0poly etc etc. I dont have a studio, more of a collection of synths that i program and play on :) ![]() DS |
Jasedee
on your homepage is that a SE analog monosynth I see... Very nice.... DS |
certainly is....but alas, not mine! It is a friends, and the photo was taken at his home.
But definately on my list of synths to own. |
![]() DS, man you are so lucky to own that jp8. I always wanted one. how is the modmatrix on the jp8? there is no more jp8, not even rogue music has it. ouuch my ears hurts. too much use of headphone while substracting. do all of you guys use headphones for soundesigning. |
the jup looks in mint condition!
|
jp8
anyone makes soft jp8? May be in future arturia comes out with TAE one...

Got one in my studio - trouble is, it distracts me from making music. I start knocking out some lead on it and get carried away and kind-of forget what I'm supposed to be doing... |
Found some old photos...not great though hehe

Its funny how my pictures look dated...almost as if its out of the 80's or something....
DS |
And its also funny how my pictures have stretched this forum alot wider. Sorry about that....I cant do anything about it.
The host rezized my goddamn pictures! DS |
8O
damn DS...... you say that youve sold most of your stuff now?????? |
Yes all those synths have gone now....(sold them to my friends). I still have use of them though
DS |
just out of interest, how much did the pro one go for?
|
I sold it for ?500 because I had it serviced and restored. New oscilator pots, new filter IC and new hand crafted high quality wood sidepanels. It looked and played lovely.....eternally regret I sold it to my 'friend' cos he wont sell it back to me now the bastard! It was my first ever synth.
DS |
bit rough that he wont sell it back mate
did you offer the same price that he paid? |
No I offered ?450...
Since then he's abused the pro-one...damn muther fecker. Some people shouldnt be let near vintage stuff.....they dont take responsibility. Vintage gear is special and should be looked after....if your unable to do so get a shitty softsynth. hehe DS |
sacriledge
shall will organise a litlle vigilante group and go get it back? |
why do you mean by abuse?
not dusting it? or accualy scratching it and twisting the knobs agressivly? |
Yes Tommer....that kinda thing. Being too rough on those delicate Pro-One pots. Being heavy handed with the switches. Not dusting it down, smoking and droping ash on the keyboard. knocking/scratching the wood side cheeks unnecessarily. All those things could be avoided. Bastard!

smoking near gear is the thing i hate most! this can defently end the life of the circuits. go kick that guy's ass ds :x |
I wont be selling my gear to friends again...
It strains the friendship at times DS |
well i have a few new additions on the way
just for a laugh i thought i would give everyone a link to 'an artists impression' of what everyhting will look like WHEN IT FINALLY GETS HERE  click here to see just how insanely bored i am (couple of things to add - no, i wont have my pc tower on my desk; i havent decided on my soundcard yet but the latest esi looks nice for the pic; yes there is a piece of behringer equipment in there but no audio signal will pass through it.... ) pc will be on its way as soon as i sell this damn mac (sorry jasedee), and the virus will get here when access makes an OS for it [/url] |

Also, check out the RME Fireface 800, the specs for the AD DA and preamps are more than respectable. |
ive had my eye on the rme for a while... just whether or not i can get the $$$ together for it
there are a few still in the running: motu 828, presonus firestation, edirol fa-101 - but i know if i buy any of these units i will be comprimising converter quality  i want the bcf2000 as dedicated mixer control, and i dont intend freeing up controllers on the TI to do so - they will be busy already  |
I hear very good things about RME stuff.......
Jasons words of wisdom: Choose your equipment wisely, make sure you only buy what you need, and dont compromise. Cheap gear will give you cheap results, and will end up costing you more..... eg: You want a Virus cos they are the best, you dont want no stinkin Casio right? Take this attitude and apply to the rest of your studio. Obviously, the 'best' is far from reach for most of us, but there is some decent quality gear out there that doesnt cost an arm/leg, BUT, there is HEAPS of crap out there. try to avoid it! |

when it comes to soundcard/interface the main contenders for me at the moment are the RME 800 fireface and the motu 828mk2. they are the only two with consistently good reviews in the price range i will be looking to buy in. i can currently get an 828 from the states for under $1000aud, so at the moment im finding it hard to justify spending twice that amount to get the RME... but see how i go. (and how many shares i sell between now and then  ) basically my requirements are an interface that has enough inputs to satisfy the virus - both s/pdif and trs (and possibly more synths to be added later  , in the mean time the extra ins would be satisfying my flatmates kb). i also would like something with some nice phantom powered xlrs to hook up my nt3 (and the nt5's that my flatmate is getting soon). i want the card to be capable of 192k sampling (purely cause the virus can), and if possible it would be nice to have metering on the front of the thing. i dont care if the unit doesnt operate in standalone mode - it will only ever be hooked up to my pc in my studio (well in the foreseeable future anyway). now that access has moved into the whole soundcard/interface arena, perhaps they could identify the need in the market for a sound card to match the TI (i dont intend sending everything through my virus and over usb). anyways, some more research needs to be done! ill make my decision soon, so any companies with possible new releases should speak now, or forever hold their peace! |
i got some new studio pics with the new bx8 monitors
where can i place them so you guys can take a look? |
you need to upload the pics on to a server (your web host), then reference the location of the pics on the server within your message using url tags (click twice on the url button above the reply box, and place the url within the tags - as described in the html description line)
you can get free web hosting from a number of places ive got dodgy hosting through netscape mywebpage (20mb hosting for free) - do a google search on 'mywebpage' and you should find it soon enough. cerat an account - login with oyur password when you get it - go to upload files - self explanatory from there..... just make sure after you have uploaded the pic that you click on the link within your index page and copy the exact url for inclusion in your message. and if you still have no luck pm me and ill host it in my server space  |

Blay....I thought the 828 was only 96k??? I have the MOTU 2408mkIII and find it great! I wouldnt want to rely on firewire, I prefer to have a PCI style soundcard with breakout box.....But, I reckon the 828 would be a pretty damn good option. You may need a little mixer (Mackie 1202VLZ) so you can monitor your synths, as well as your main mix from computer |
