I've seen one of those, not in person. Strange looking, but interesting. A softsynth OSCAR? Why?

Tomer=Trance 13.07.2003 08:52 AM

ppl are looking for another software version of a vintage synth,something like NI's pro 52 and 53
which i think was kind of lame but thats my opinion

Blank 13.07.2003 09:48 AM

I agree with Tomer i didnt think it was all that hot of a VSTi...and the emulation wasnt that great either im my opinion...

TommyS 15.07.2003 04:48 PM

Ive never really had any problems with TurnKey. Perhas I might need to wait for a few weeks to get the item, but it always comes in good condition. (Im just lucky or they think im famous, not sure :? )

I`d say its not really there fault, they cant really inspect each bit of hardware they send out. Im sure they are as pissed of as you, with all the hassle.

I`d say the person you want to be bummin` is the suppliers of TurnKey. Access perhaps :?:

Blank 15.07.2003 09:40 PM

cash is good
cash keeps you studio runing and lets you add some new friends to it :D

Blank 19.07.2003 11:35 AM

Cash also helps u pay for more advertisement to get more listeners which in return makes u more money for more toys!!!

Blank

also gives u a nice house and lots of beautiful women flawk to u :wink:
but never never would fall for one of those women...!
Cash does make life a bit more easier in alot of aspects but can also make life difficult in others!!

Tomer=Trance 19.07.2003 12:06 PM

you got to use it properly....

Blank 22.07.2003 07:55 PM

I agree 100% but the problem is...finding out what is properly using money...now im sure we all have our ideas but to actually use it right that is something that takes time and practice...that is why we have record labels...

Blank

Tomer=Trance 22.07.2003 08:38 PM

so?
going to send some tracks to labels soon blank?

crea 26.07.2003 08:02 AM

Ah well, boring old me -> back to the original topic, ey? My choice is easy - the Virus (b to be entirely correct) - since it's the only synth I've played (not just fooled around with in a store). :oops:

.hawke

Machinegunjoe 15.08.2003 09:51 PM

Ohh....I finally know what synth i think is the fattest sounding...my SH101! I hadn't had the time to play around with it until yesterday(I've had it for 4 month, maybe longer....yeah i know :oops: ) And i made this AWESOME Picotto bass....woomph woomph. :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: ohh man...im in love

Tomer=Trance 16.08.2003 09:35 AM

hehe that what happends when you have too many synths
i guss you bought alot of synths at once right? :wink:

when are you going to let us listen to your music joe?

Machinegunjoe 16.08.2003 09:56 AM

lol i guess your right... Most of the times i use the gear that im used to so that i work faster. But every now and then i end up spending a day with a synthersizer that i really haven't worked so much with. The funny thing is that i always wonder why the heck i don't use that synth more often.

My music :D i'm working on a new song right now i might be finished by the end of next week if you have msn mess i could send it to you. (bartezz, Jurgen vries style) would be fun to hear a Trance maniacs opinion. I'll let you know when i'm finished

Blank 16.08.2003 10:11 AM

After i get this soundset done, i want to see how that goes...im going to work on a demo tape to send to record labels..i dont like my older songs,so maybe i will re-due them with hardware and touch them up...but i might just make new songs!!

peace
Blank

Timo 16.08.2003 11:20 AM

If you want the 303 sound, have you ever tried something like the BassStation (or SuperBassStation), MAM MB33 (Mk2 edition), or Freebass? They might be right up your street. I think all of them have Midi too (albeit not on the knobs of the freebass, though). And the BassStation/SuperBassStation, at least, has more features than the 303.

DIGITAL SCREAMS 16.08.2003 11:23 AM

If I were u Blank....Id get into a habbit of writing songs regularly....more so than making soundsets. Dont rely on material u did 2-3 yrs ago.......chances are it sounds a bit dated already.

U want a record deal? Go and make something really fresh and original. That is where the money is made...not in soundsets. Just my bullshit opinion of course :roll:

j/k

lmao

DS 8)

Tomer=Trance 16.08.2003 12:56 PM

want a record deal do something commercial.....
fresh can take some time and harder to do

Timo 16.08.2003 01:17 PM

Blank - Listened to your trax at mp3.com - very well produced :) - Was your virus your main synth?

Yo Tomer, or DigiS, or indeed anyone else, do you have any of your stuff online to listen to, as well, lads?

TURNKEY- Cockney for wankers

I got my Virus from TURNKEY. I won't be buying anything else off 'em. I was visiting friends in London & took the opportunity to visit their 'showroom', to compare & listen to different synths. First impressions were dissapointing, it was small, dingy, crowdy & noisey - not at all as it appears in its press adverts. Anyway I'd pretty much decided I was buying before I went in and so after an hour or so I went to the sales counter & attempted to buy myself a VirusC. They had one on display at ?999 (English Pounds). Not a problem they said & sent someone to fetch one from the stores. When they took my card, however, they attempted to charge me ?1079. Naturally I queried this and was told that due to demand & the fact that no-one else had them (they are the sole UK distributors) the price had gone up. I pointed out that the price tag on the display model was ?999 and refused to pay anymore. They then claimed that they hadn't got any left themselves, that it would take a couple of weeks to get one to me and implied that if I didn't place a deposit for it there and then the price could well increase further.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, as I was about to walk out in disgust they managed to 'find' a Virus from somewhere and after consultation with some higher authority, agreed with obvious reluctance and very bad grace, to give it to me for ?999.
Although I had in a sense won the consession from them it didn't feel like much of a victory. I should have been excited about my purchase, instead I felt like I'd escaped a fleecing from some grubby con artist.
The consumer synth market in the UK is pretty much tied up by 2 operators, TURNKEY & DIGITAL VILLAGE. I've bought off both of them a number of times, experiences which have never been truly satisfactory, & have often felt in some way adversarial - they'll never just quote you their best price, for instance, rather they ask you what price you have been quoted elsewhere. I suppose they would argue that the onus is on the customer to drive a bargain. My perception, which was very much bourne out by the above, is that they are always more than willing to try it on, ready to take advantage of the unwary customer.

Happily, I've had no problems with my Virus (indeed I love it), and no further dealings with TURNKEY.

Is TURNKEY supposed to be spealt with an 'N'?

Tomer=Trance 23.10.2003 06:05 AM

ok after some time....
the fatest synth i've ever played with was the moog minimoog.... indeed
the jupiters are also realy fat but they cant beat that mega fat moog bass....

Cruel Hoax 09.11.2003 10:19 PM

Fattest, hands-down? Moog Voyager with "insert" jack improperly used as feedback/gain, patched into external input. Everything else is, well, a bit polite and well-behaved in comparison.

Hi, all. Just got a Virus B for a killer price. Originally intended to sell it on ebay to make some money, but fell in love with the versatility and zipper-less parameter changes.

n0303 17.11.2003 09:38 PM

Heh, i have a monopoly. Although I can never make it shimmer for trance i still feel it has a certain grit i cant get anywhere else. I just heard that the pulse plus as a midi/cv converter, that makes it a smart buy as I have no midi on the old monopoly.

I still think i should trade in my nova laptop on a nord lead 2 or nord modular, what do you all think?

I just got a Korg SX and i think its phat considering you can sample your heart out and get the drum machine and sampler fix in one box.

Cruel Hoax 18.11.2003 04:36 AM

Do it for the NL2, n0303. Do it for the interface alone.

THIN!

Why is F--A--T so great?
............what's wrong with thin?

fat is old hat
thin is in
:wink:

Tomer=Trance 25.11.2003 03:22 PM

a fat sub bass is cooler then a thin sub bass :wink:
but there is nothing wrong with thin as long as the sound is beautiful.
again its a matter of personal taste...

udenjoe 27.11.2003 12:30 AM

How about tight? I hear tight basses can be better than long basses depending on your mix.

Tomer=Trance 27.11.2003 05:16 AM

yeah your right

DIGITAL SCREAMS 28.11.2003 11:44 AM

I have a preference for warm rich analog sounds. Jupiter 8, Oberheim, Prophets, Moogs. I can make wide sounds on the virus....but they always tend to sound a little 2 dimensional....I guess thats the limitation of software. 5 years time....software will be powerful enough to make truly convincing analog sounds.

Fat sounds are so much more satisfying than thin weedy sounds.

Thin is in? Not in my house it aint muhahahaha......

See, I like the nl2 from what I have heard. But I have never heard any good trance patches for it. I have heard spades for the nl3 but not the 2. I could go get a modular and use the nl2 model i suppose but then I would not have the interface. Speaking of the interface i like the one on the nova.
Will the nl2 rack mount in a six u space and have room for cables?
