There is plenty we can do in terms of poking holes in speaker cones, placing rattly crockery in front of horns, or injecting Dr Sonix special earwax, if you want even more exotic distortion. Why pester those nice Access people for more lavish FM, until we have exhausted regular domestic analog modulation sources?

Solid bass, real 4 Operator FM & 8 note poly for under 100, hang on why did I sell mine. :p |
I am so tempted to buy a Blofeld. They are so cheap and look so awesome..
But the Moog Little Phatty also looks extremely cool. Of course, there's the small detail that I can't afford to buy any more gear until at least May... :P -Annikk |

Yeah almost worth keeping one around just for "Lately Bass", we used that to death through the 90's.
I wasn't comparing a DX/TX to anything modern, just saying if you want real FM (for an uber low price) get a real FM synth. AFAIK there isn't a 4, 6 or 8 operator FM synth in a Blofeld, 2 op FM is bound to sound less interesting. DX synths are hard to program this is a byproduct of them being very complex machines, having said that my DX7 mk2 is only used as a midi keyboard not for sounds. |
Here's the pisseroni....
There are lots of Reaktor ensembles (free, no less) in the NI user library which have audio rate modulation, and therefore waldorfian giggle factor. Nothing sounds grelpier than an oscillator modulating itself at full audio rate. Just imagine those viruswaves doing a similar thing. I needs a cold shower now. |
