The only effect I seem to use with Cubase is the delay.
Since moving over the SX though, I have used DaTube on a few things. 3rd party plugs are where you'll find some of the nice ones. |

I still use my DEQ2496 as one of my main processors as its hell of alot better than any of the equivelent junk that ships with Cubase SX. The only collection of plugins so far that I have that actually is guenuinely good is the UAD-1 ultra-pak set. (As I dont have the TC powercore yet). I do like the reverbs in the UAD-1 set, but I still havnt found 'my reverb' - Ive been avoiding buying an MPX-1 as I dint really want to spend any more on outboard fx, but I suspect I will have to eventually. actually the MPX-1 is like a hge plugin pak all on its own - a freind has two of them in his studio. I wonder if its a case of where a cmpany is making hardware, they is some drive to make a decent job of it - even with cheap hardware where with PC/Mac software at the lower end - if it compiles - ship it - to hell with what it sounds like. |
Thx guys for getting back to me on this. Yes, I find the Cubase reverbs really metallic and brittle....i find most of the effects crappy. Im currently researching into it.....but something tells me i wont get a pure software replacement for the lexicon
It would make life so much easier if I had a suite of high end plugins DS |
Khazul, I wouldn't buy any behringer fx units altough I mentioned "budget" effects. I meant something like M-One, MPX500 etc. but my mind changes really fast and right now I don't see any point using external fx boxes.
But wouldn't it be cool, if you could use an M-One or MPX500/MPX1 + DBX compressor for every hardware synth. |
DS, check out these 3...
http://www.classikstudioreverb.com/Main.html?prod-CSR http://www.artsacoustic.com/Content/...s-details1.htm http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_u...rbW5-main.html All native and all pretty cool. The first one by IK is supposidly modled on a lex pcm91 (or is it the 480, i forget) obviously it doesnt sound EXACTLY like one, but from what I have heard it does a good job (you can download a demo if you have a syncrosoft key which I assume you do as you use sx3.) The second is also not bad. It takes a bit of tweaking to get some decent verbs but it can produce some very nice results. The wizoo is a convo, one of the better ones Ive heard. It also has some nice modulations which are very lexi like, not to bad on the cpu either! Aside from those the only other option is a powercore with vss3/dvr2 or classic verb. All VERY nice sounding verbs. Plate on the UAD is not to bad either but I would choose the poco verbs over it everytime. ten |
