Pendulum use z3ta/virus poco for their bass sounds. :D

Use real analog for your source sample and use real analog eq and mixer input gain to overdrive sounds. |

I think Pendulums album sounds different, which is why I like it. I used to buy alot of DnB vinyl around 1999-2001, but stopped as the sound that was evolving became too hard and techy, then Pendulum comes along, and gives it a more breakbeat, polished, and dare I say mainstream or universally more acceptable sound. So, why so bitter? They are enjoying success, they have some BIG friends (ie The Freestylers), and obviously their sound is appealing. Are you just trying to keep it street level, underground, anti-mainstream... |
So anyone know about the sound??

The quality isn't great, but it sounds like a distorted or overdriven sine to me with a lot of tweaking of the envelope. Nothing too complicated. You could also get the same sound by using 808 stabs with effects which is very common.
Pendulum make very cheesy music with the same overused drum samples, but they do in fact use a virus powercore and z3ta a lot. For example, one of their most famous noises is the main bass noise in Masochist which is all z3ta and it's own mod matrix and effects. The incredibly cheesy lead in Slam was made on the powercore which is a sound I hope never comes out of my virus :x |
hmm form descriptions kinda know where your ocming from will listen when at home late rif i remember. But if it the sound i think you want it just two osc with a saw waveform with one of them slightly detuned to the other then filter, distort and compress.
