Ben replied to the "other list" and implied it works fine. I'm going to give it another go and will keep this thread posted when I've got it to work.

I don't want an Apple and I don't want Cubase, so I'm happy to stick with Logic 5 for now. Actually, I want my ATARI back!!!!! Waaaaahhhhhh

Don't suppose virus control will run on a 512Mb STe do you?

technomonster 18.10.2005 05:22 PM

hey mr orange.

i actually believe that LOGIC 5.5.1 is the best program around.

just wondering if other people know why i wrote that

There's a possibility that the problems you are experiencing are to do with your computer hardware. You can be assured that Access are working hard on this stuff right now, so hang in there!

I can personally vouch for Logic 5.5.1 compatibility - I have been firing it up on a daily basis, and the only problem I have found that is specific to Logic is that it doesn't start up Virus Control properly until you highlight an Audio Instrument track which actually contains the VC plugin. This is only a minor irritation though, and doesn't amount to an 'incompatiblity' - it's just the way Logic does things.

technomonster 18.10.2005 06:56 PM

thanks for that ben crosland.

just another little question,

with the report of bugs here and there, especially with the arp and certain latencies, do these bugs apply to LOGIC 5.5.1 as well.

or is LOGIC 5.5.1 working perfectly already in the beta version, just by chance.
i am just hoping that the updates to fix up bugs dont suddenly make LOGIC 5.5.1 uncompatible.
I am hoping that the fixing of bugs is just trying to fix up the beta release, and not actually adjusting to new a technology, if you know what i mean.

as i am a technilogical "dunce" just wondering if I wil get any helpfrom ACCESS for my fumbles with its use with LOGIC 5.5.1.
i hope i get some help.

when ACCESS decides to change everything to VST 3 which will kill off LOGIC 5.5.1, i just hope that the VC will end up perfect in all forms of VST 2 and us LOGIC AUDIO 5.5.1 users can happily live with the VC for VST 2 for ever until our deaths wiht our good old pentium 4s, WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IS ON VST 3.

ALSO BEN, when you said that you fire up the VIRU TI on LOGIC 5.5.1 PLATINUM (PLATINUM I HOPE) do you mean fire it up to test it for bugs, or do you mean fire it up to compose and program and have fun

I doubt it, but who knows? I hope not, as it is my preferred platform. And no, Logic is not exempt from the reported problems, unfortunately.

Not much time for fun round these parts ;) Actually, I'm not much of a composer tbh, so I just use it to test stuff, write scores for teaching with, and occasionally knock out a dodgy groove ;)

so any more news.

I haven't had any luck getting Logic 5.5 (PC) to recognise Virus Control. It simply doesn't show up in the audio instrument inert points - anywhere. The DLLs go into the VST Plugins folder OK, and some other files (.cfg I think) appear in that folder after I've opened up Logic, but nothing happens in Logic itself. I've been into the registry, inserted, deleted, edited every possible permutation of references to vstplugins and these DLLs, to no avail. I've copied the DLLs into the system32 folder to see if that works. Nadda.

It's not such a big worry for me, since my set up is mostly hardware strung together with midi leads(hence the reason I'm happy using an aging copy of Logic), but I wouldn't mind the patch librarian, and the parameter recall seems pretty handy, but nothing that can't be done from the front panel.

I'm kinda waiting for the major dust to settle with the major vc bugs that litter this forum before hassling tech support with issues relating to an aging copy of Logic for PC. But I would love to hear from anyone who's got it working.

YES.

Finally got Logic 5.5.1 to recognise Virus Control. Don't know whether it's got anything to do with v 1.06, but my money's on the fact that I finally did a fresh install.

Windows XP - Service pack 1 - Logic 5.5.1 - Nothing else! No internet connection, no antivirus, no adobe acrobat reader, no office software, no wireless network, no downloads, no Windows update, no emails, no porno, no screensavers, no nothing! XP - SP1 - Logic!

I can't say it was the most straightforward install putting the VC software on; I kept getting asked where blah, blah, blah files were. So, while doing the install, I'm busy using 'Windows Find' to, err... find them. It wasn't looking good and I wasn't terribly hopeful, to put it mildly.

But hey. There it was, in one of those instrument insert points. Click and up it popped in all its glory.

Irony is, having had a quick play to check it sort-of worked, I realised I was actually getting on fine without the so-called Total Integration, and haven't bothered with it since. I have read such nightmare tales on this forum and elsewhere that, to be honest, I couldn't be arsed!

Nice to know it's there though.

thats amazing.

that is exactly what i have, and it is a dream.

actually i hope mr orange you do!!!!!!!!!!! try the virus control with LOGIC 5.5.1,

cause i have put down a grand as deposit for my TI already and wont purchase it completely until an update pretty well clears up all the bugs.

i am very bad with technology and dont think i could handle sussing out bugs.
i also just want to use the VC as patch editing and storage as well as using the automation feature, but want to use analog outs to have the complete hardware sound with the D/A converters, and then getiing the DELTA 1010 treatment.

i like that sound!!!

hope you are VIRUS CONTOLLING mr orange
