sorry but i think novation are rather misleading about this.
check out the manual they dont realy say word by word its pure analog.

vcf can easly be analog emulated filter.

anyhow i could be wrong on this one. :wink:
it would be nice to see a new version of the bass station with builtin 303 style step sequencer with an affordable price,299 maybe :D

if they like they could include a drum station engine aswell into it for a total tb-tr machine.

In my opinion the KS4 wins over the Nova II. The KS4 sounds a little brighter, less glassy and has more clarity. Id also say that it sounds subjectively warmer...in a VA kinda way. I used a KS5 at one time....

I decided to get a KS4 for now and then, if I really like Novation's sound I'll get a Supernova II. I tried Vstation and really liked the sound(really bright and crisp, would complement very well a virus) so I'm pretty sure I'll really like the KS4.

I'll let you know what I think about the synth when I receive :)

I own a KS5 and it can make some great sounds, but don't ask too much of it as the polyphony is not massive. If you have saws in unison and more than one such patch on a performance, the sound starts dropping out and clicking if 3 or more keys are pressed.

Matt: I don't plan to use unison in the writing stage, I will only do if I have to in the recording stage :)

Mostly I wanted that synth so that I could plan out my tunes without running into cpu issues :)

What I know, the super bass station's oscillators are va-modeled. However the filter, noise, chorus and distortion are all analog circuitry. That's why the sound is more powerful than any digital novation's sound. I use my super bass station for basslines almost in every project.

I also have a supernova2, which is a great sounding digital synth. I use it mostly for pads and all kinds of lead sounds. Supernova has a limited set of oscillator waveforms (pulse, saw and double saw) so it cannot do as many different kind of sounds as virus for example but the sounds which the supernova does can be very powerful. I like the overal tone of the synth. I also like the filter & distortion. You can make quite good tb kind of sounds with it too. However the super bass station does them better because of half analog design.

F5D has the correct info on the SuperBass Station. And it does sound real heavy. The bass is very full, almost (but not quite) in the moog territory. I owned the new Novation synths (nova and supernova), but returned them a few days later. I guess I was expecting a Polyphonic BASS STATION>

maybe you should try modern analog polys.
