There is alot u can do to improve your monitoring at home without having to spend thousands on sound treatment. If you know your environment well, and know your monitors even better, then any problems you may face in the environment can be accounted for Proper placement of monitors is a must! How close are your monitors to your wall? pull em back about a meter and hear the difference... How far apart are your monitors? You will never truly hear the stereo image unless your monitors are the right distance apart. Experiment! How loud are you monitoring? If it is anything above around 85dB SPL then your ears are getting tired my friend! Run some pink noise at -20dBFS from your DAW, then pull up your master output, and for each speaker so that when u measure with an SPL meter it reads 85dB SPL at your monitoring position. With this you can listen safely continuosly for 8 hours, without damage to your ears. How important are your ears to you? Are you listening to the flaws of your environment? Well, try not to focus on the negative aspects of your monitors, and listen to the sounds, colours, and images in front of you. Is your room too reflective? Some thick curtains may help. Cheap too... I could go on.... |
I use Alesis m1 active mk2, I think they are pretty good, but have been looking on Adam Audio P11-A also(maybe the ANF 10's, since they are cheaper) because I want to have two pairs for mixing tracks.
Anyone have experience with these monitors? |
