It can be used to control the filter.

Edit: Controlling the envelope amount instead of cutoff, usually gives better results than direct cutoff control.

Ok now i understand what u r saying Juho...U can get a similar desired affect using the filter env on the velocity section...but i was doing going with what was being asked...the cuttoff...yeah every time i modulated the cuttoff it never really came out as i thought it would...so i know what u r saying...
