Page 27 of the Virus C manual: "The oscillators of the VIRUS oscillate freely.". What does this mean? Does this mean that the oscillators doesn't run on 440 Hz , but some oscillate at 440.5 Hz, while another may oscillate at 439.5 Hz?

I think it means that they are not retriggered unless you want them to.

But when osscilator 1 and 2 both produces a saw waveform. Then the resulting sound must be a saw waveform too, if we don't detune the 2nd oscillator of course. The sum of two sinusoids with the same frequency is a sinusoid (tyhat can be proven). Thus: the sum of two saw waveforms with the same frequency, results in a new saw waveform too. But, as I and you notice, two saw osscilators produces a fatter sound than a single saw waveform. So, what is wrong with my theory?

That's due the fact that the saw waves don't start (or trigger) exactly on the same time and I think there's also some minor drifting in the frequency to add some "analoginess".

oscillate freely : like juho said, i think it means their cycles are not retriggered when you play notes... unless ... you set an initial phase position for the oscillators menu, thus making them start at the same phase position each time you hit a note.
Beside that, the oscs seem phatter because the osc2 detune is initially set to 32, set this value to 0 and set the phase start position to whaterver you want and you will get a unique saw wave or whatever, obviously it will sound louder then a single one because it is the result of two stacked identical waveforms.

hahaha yeah kind of, actually i had the same problem as this guy here:

... then being in a parallel world and loosing control of all parts of my body ....i slept with my poodle! and the result is that baby chewbacca...
